@ the lot of you. I like how you all can take a potentially explosive issue and banter over it instead of argue. It is very refreshing. Hi JuJu ... your post did not offend me at all. This world has gotten way too PC for me and sometimes straight talk is just that ... straight talk. I think part of our or my goal is get to the point that your first post described if we/I really plan on staying quit for life. We all may get to that point at different times, we may slip up along the way, but getting to that last level of self realization and maturity and staying quit is the ultimate goal. So here is to growing up with you! CHEERS! For me Juju's post hit the nail on the head! I did exactly that last night when I gave in and had three puff's - I GREW UP - I thought this is how I started as a teenager 21 years ago and I'm not going back to been that teenager again, I passed the cig to my friend and went to the toilet in the pub and beat myself up, felt sick, smelt vile and looked in the mirror and said "Grow up stupid, you don't need a cig you just wanted one as everyone else had one -GROW UP!" It helped me and I will keep telling myself to grow up if the junkie in me tries again Joanne

My previous post was if read correctly aimed at myself and no-one else, what I put was - - It helped me and I will keep telling myself to grow up if the junkie in me tries again Yes I did put grow up but as you see above I will keep saying it to myself, as that is my opinion of myself. Joanne - Who is growing up and stopping blaming everyone else for my actions My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 515 Amount Saved: 100 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 32 Seconds: 43

I was not going to post a response but I wanted to put my penny in. :) I remember about 1 1/2 years ago I posted help at a different site as I was having such a hard time. someone responded to my post similar to what you wrote. I am very sensitive and it hurt my feelings deeply. Therefore, I went back to smoking. It took me over a year to try again and now I am at this supportive wonderful site with so many caring people willing to help. We are human and humans do make mistakes. Alcoholics relapse, drug addicts relapse, etc... All we can do is our best and honestly try... What I have learned is that everyone is different and has different outlooks and that's what makes the world go round. But be careful because someone may be really having a hard time reaching out then getting zapped and become so hurt that they will give up. That would be a shame wouldn't it? One thing that I love about this site that the people here are caring wonderful and compassionate. This has touched me so. I mean if someone is always crying wolf that would be another story but if someone is reaching out for help who are we to judge? some of us are not as strong as others and should be able to post their feelings at any time.. I would hate to think that I would have to worry about posting for help for fear that someone is going to chew me out for how I feel at that time. These are just my feelings. Not putting you down for yours so please just think a little, it's a cold world out there not here... babs My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 810 Amount Saved: $141.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 39 Seconds: 6

Well maybe not the best way to go about it, but I get your point! You must move past the "kid" stage and just deal with certain things! It's tough to quit and minimalizing others quits isn't probably good....we all need support here! Even you sometimes, I am sure! Hang in there...you can do this!! I wasn't offended...just thought maybe others would be! That's what I get for thinkin, eh? I know what you meant and I did take it as such! We do need to grow up and face reality before you can commit to the quit!!!
