Thanks everyone. I understand Wes and Silver what you're saying about not putting myself in those situations, but I'm getting a little house-bound, as I'm sure you understand. I feel like I want to keep my life, just without the habit. I also moderate my drinking to make sure I don't slip up. Thanks again...keep up the quit!

I just wanted to share my evening last night with everyone. I went out with my friends, my smoking friends, for drinks. I knew it was going to be a difficult task, but I took my "tools" with me...pack of gum, straw, and a lot of willpower. Early into the evening, my friends were being kind and smoking outside, but as the temperature dropped, they smoked inside. After a glass and a half of wine, my will started to waver, and the smokey air began to entice me, but I held on. Told myself "If you can wait just 10 minutes, you can get through this." And I did! I managed to go the entire evening without a puff. This was not easy. I wanted one sooooo badly, but I held on. I kept thinking about coming back on here today and there were two options: 1) Reset my meter, or 2)Don't smoke, and I really didn't want to reset my meter. I just wanted to tell everyone this because if I can do it, this early in my quit, you can too. We can keep our quit! Good Job! It won't be quite as hard next time, I'm sure. Not quite as hard but still far from easy so keep your guard up always. It was cool the way you took all your supplies with you and used them. Be careful putting yourself in those sorts of situations too frequently if you are early in your quit - especially with the alcohol. Sounds like you drink moderately, though. When I used to drink I wouldn't have remembered the next day if I smoked or not. Wes

Congratulations Kleo!!! That's an awesome story of sheer determination paying off! Congratulations for making it through a very tough trigger so early in your quit! The good news is that now that you've made it through one really hard one, the next time you're in a similar situation, you can think "I made it through that smoke free, so I can make it through this" and it's not as hard! Way to go! Crave the Quit!
