Soooo Tired...

phreaknbz, We all experience different withdrawal symptoms when we quit smoking, and some people do get depressed. Quitting smoking is hard and often people find it hard to make such a dramatic change in their lifestyle. Although side effects may be unpleasant, they should pass. When you experience withdrawal symptoms, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery. Your body is in the process of healing itself. If your depression persists, or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult your doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of your past history, and when you stop smoking the symptoms may abruptly become noticeable. If youre uncomfortable talking to your doctor about depression you may want to take The Depression Test at: www.depressioncenter.net/depressiontest. The test gives you a Final Report that you can print off and hand to your doctor. Take Care, Melanie __________________ The SSC Support Team

browneyesblue, your post really speaks to me, I Have felt tired and depressed - but ive not gone to the DR. i just feel like the reason i feel this way is so logical that im depressed that im not smoking anymore and of course tiredness is a symptom of depression - i would say try to find some inner peace and forget about the anti-depressant pills water and excersize is all you need, i really hope you feel better soon .

I can relate to your problem, my quit day was Jan. 7th 2006 and I am using the patches. I'm on the second step for two weeks and then I will go to the 3rd step for two weeks. The program is for 10 weeks. I have been so tired the whole time but I can't sleep. I might get 4 hrs of sleep, and then I have very vivid dreams. I have started taking the patches off at night and that has helped. I have thought of stop using the patches but I am afraid I will slip. I am also depressed and don't want to do anything. But I have been under a lot of stress for the past two years, my husband died of lung cancer last March. We had both quit smoking and can you believe I started smoking after I saw him die of lung cancer. I hope things are getting better for you. Wow! I am so glad to have found this post. I quit with the intentions to use the 14mg patch but I only wore it for the first 2 days and they were awsome, Like this big weight was lifted off my shoulders. Then the past 2 days I havent wore anything and I have felt like I am doing this cold turkey and having some hellaious withdrawl. I do want to sleep all the time. But the way I see it is the more I sleep thats less time for me to be thinking about a cigarette! Even though I've been having crazy dreams where I am smoking again... but fortunately I havent touched a cig since Feb 12th at 2:00am! Itz all good! I feel tired alot and depressed some. I have had constant congestion which is annoying. I didn't start coughing until today, which I find totally wierd. I have been very grouchy in general, but I'm hoping that will pass I wont become a permenant B1t@h ;-). My Mom just told me that she has been diagnosed with COPD. That makes this decision all the easier I'll tell you that. My Mom smoked for 46 years, I smoked for 27. Gees, scary stuff. I can't wait until smoking is just a thing of the past.. something I did a long time ago. cincere, I quit cold turkey and felt tired for the first few days. I was napping and going to bed early.. it made it easier to give in it the tiredness. Don't fight the sleeping.. you body may be telling you that you need some rest. It went away and I don't feel it anymore. It may also be depression. You are right at the right place (5 days nic free) to be feeling down.. which sometimes feels like being tired. It will probably pass before you know it. Hang Tuff.. congrat on ditching the nic !! I noticed after my naps, my body had no withdraw symptoms. I would fall asleep with a craving, and "BAM" it would be gone after I awoke. My wife would get mad at me because I wanted to sllep all the time for the first couple of days. But you know what, it helped me alot. I say go for it, if you want a nap, take one becouse I sure will. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 390 Amount Saved: $79.8 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 47 Seconds: 5

I have a question? Its been 19 days for me, I also am so tired and have gone into a severe depression. I went to the drs yesterday and he put me on an antidepressant. I really hate taking meds...I used to be depressed years ago...but this time I am really depressed...its at the point now...I dont care about anything or anybody....I just wanna be alone...is this natural for nicotine withdrawal....I also have a severe sore throat and headache..but no congestion?? another withdrawal symptom???
