Cemetary, You need to come up with a plan! When a craving sets in, think about what are you going to do or what you can do to not give in! Try writing down some coping techniques to particular scenarios. For example, the house is clean there is nothing to do and the cravings kicks in. You have already eaten and you are in a state of panic. Try leaving the house, go for a walk, call a friend, jump on the site, have a shower. Anything that takes your mind off of temptation is beneficial. Quitting smoking is not easy and that is why we are here! We are here to help you learn on how to quit smoking and be successful. You can do this! Keep us posted and be sure to jump back on the site to let us know how you have coped with your cravings. We all learn from each other! Hi Cemetary, I am now on day 5. Day 4 and 5 have been the worse. I don't have the anger that you have, but I have the fixating. Just can't think of anything but having a cigarette. I have been on other sites and it is the same. Take it one second,minute,hour,day at a time. Don't fight it, accept it. WE CAN QUIT. Also, if you can, it may take some of your time to check out FFSOnline.org, whyquit.com, quitsmokingonline.com. The quit smoking helps alot with the mental issues, which is where we are. Stay strong and walk away from the situation. I agree it is hard, but it can only get easier. I hear you. I'm on my third day and I've been going nuts. If it wasn't for my fiance I think I would be smoking up a storm by now. One thing I've been doing that really calms me down when I want one bad is hitting a punching bag. Okay, not really just hitting it, but trying to tear it to shreds with my bare hands. It really works if you just do it till you huff and puff. Oh, that was me last night. Completely LIVID!! I was in bed, crying and I just screamed and screamed and screamed into my pillow. Then I got up and stomped around the bedroom as hard as I could. I stomped down the stairs, went into the bathroom and slammed the door. And then I just cried. The weird thing is that I really don't WANT a cigarette. I'm not craving nicotine because of the gum and the lozenge. So, I'm gathering that this is just a withdrawal from not having the actual cigarette. I guess what I miss the most is the inhaling of the smoke, exhaling and the taste. I don't know. Today is my fourth day quit. Every night, at around 6pm, I have a HORRIBLE craving....I get an anxiety attack, I become very angry, I yell and cry. Tonight was the worst though. I am EXHAUSTED from fighting this. I already have to deal with my bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder on a daily basis and this is just adding to it. I ALMOST slipped tonight. I was so close to going out and buying myself a pack of smokes. Oh, just to have one cigarette. BUT, I didn't. My husband helped me through it, again. He's been so good through this so far!! I'm very proud of myself for not giving in and I'm SO thankful for my husband! I just wanted to share my bad experience. Thanks for listening guys! Okay, so I had my first bad episode, last night, at around 6pm. I got through it. I had another one, ten times worse, at around 10pm. I have done all the activities in the program here, I have gone over everything in my glove compartment. Deep breathing exercises do not work when I'm having one of these "attacks". It just completely overwhelms me. I just don't know how to cope with it. I can't think of anything to do. Today, I'm very very depressed. I just dont' know what to do. Hey you ! You are sure lucky to have your guy to back you up ! You made it through another episode and that is all you need to be concerned with. One day at a time.. one moment at a time. Pamper yourself Siren... you are afterall in rehab to get off cigarettes. Go spend the $15 you have saved so far ! Shopping is a great therapy (lol) You sound really serious about quitting.. that is great. Sleep more if you need to,,, wahtever you need to stay off the smokes. Take your mind off them.. don't let them control your days. I know it fells like something is missing.. just find anything to do instead of smoking... eat, walk, watch tv, sleep, read.. come here and read old post.. they are great ! You can do this ! I know with biploar there are times that ant hills look like mountains and mountains look like unpassable cayons. The first step is if you see a pattern change it. If you know that 6 pm and 10 pm are going to be bad then do something different at those times (eg go for a walk at 545).
