Hey Joy! Oh No way I do that same thing too--it's like I have a fixed 'mirror mirror on the wall, who do you see back their if you recall'. And that is the future me looking at me back here and it feels like I am in a constant time warp. I am so glad I am not alone in the warp. But I may be the only one who is warped in the warp. LOL. MANY BLESSINGS!! Gosh I just Love your energy joyful! I want to share something that I have been experiencing for a bit now this afternoon. This morning was easier, lemme tell ya!!! That first craving was no big deal, I was so past it as I remained on the site and reading about what I can keep doing to avoid the FEED. I am calling it the FEED because the NICODEMON is ALWAYS HUNGRY IN ME. BUT I AM SO MUCH STRONGER THAN THAT NICODEMON; WE ALL ARE!!!!! So, ok, I took a shower with the intention to go get some healthy snack food later and get other stuff done...and usually after the shower I light up while I am doing my hair, I leave it in the tray while I flat iron, but I couldn't do it this time...and it was weird doing my hair with no nic stick to sort of help me pass the time. Yeah I find it boring doing my hair...I could be doing better things with my time. WHAT I NOTICED: If I am bored with what I am doing, I am also ANXIOUS to be doing something better/more productive/more fun so I ran and grabbed one of my CRYSTALS to relieve that anxiety way down inside bubbling up in me...and it worked!!! WHAT ABOUT FOOD: Food you say? I've been eating all day. Not once, not twice, just everything nice. I have no idea, when the urge will clear, how long it will last, or if maybe I should fast. I just know I am up, to and fro, from the top of the cupboard to the bottom of my stove! I don't care how many wheat thins I snare, or how many mixed nuts I've devoured over there. A handful of cereal if you please, with just a bit of soy to put me at ease. You may not believe but what a treat---I NEVER THOUGHT CANDY CANES TASTED SO SWEEEEET!!! And OHH-the Caffiene- in pots of two, and my water bottle refills are crystal blue. I know I am seeing the light, and I don't know if I'm doing this right, but with all my mustered might, I WILL WIN THIS NICO-FEED FIGHT!! Writing is my anti-nic! I AM POURING MYSELF INTO WHAT I LOVE TO DO AND I DON'T HAVE TO STOP AND LIGHT UP ANYMORE TO CONTINUE BEING THE BEST ME I CAN BE!!! YESTERDAY IS HISTORY TOMORROW IS A MYSTERY TODAY IS A GIFT THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED THE PRESENT MANY BLESSINGS EVE :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13 Amount Saved: $3

We've all learned coping techniques for staying quit. I'm thinking we can never have too many! And I'm thinking this will come in handy for the new comers and those of us feeling like giving up. So I'll start with idea's that I've learned along the way. I'm sure most of us all know the definition of insanity...DOING THE SAME THING OVER & OVER & OVER AGAIN & EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS. Choices & consequences. Can't blame anybody else for your choices. It's time to grow up and act responsibly. Look in the mirror & take responsibility for your actions. At the start of your quit do everything U DON'T WANNA DO AND if u have to think twice about something don't do it. Please share things u think and do to help u stay quit :) We have to stay armed at all times because when the junkie pokes his/her head up we need to beat it back down! We all have that committee in our head that starts thinking insane thoughts and we have to continue to grow up emotionally so that our sane thoughts can & will out talk the insane thoughts. Together we can & will do this :) Knowledge is power :) WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... I use have one before and after my shower and while doing my hair, lol. When I first quit I had to do ALOT of deep breathing and now even with over 400 days quit I still sometimes have to do deep breathing. It helps in dealing with anxiety/frustration/urges...etc. Relaxation techniques really help. One I can think of is laying down closing my eyes and relaxing my body, starting with my toes and working my way up.

Hey Eve :) I've always loved that saying! Today is a present :) Although 1 coping technique I use is putting myself into the future with remembering all the other hard times I had but got through and how good it felt once I got through it :)
