Cheryl.. I didn't see you hiding in here. I was right there just a few days ago (see "the junkie within" in the general forum). Maybe its spring, maybe its where we are and maybe it's just junkie thinking. I don't know but I do know it passes. It's an emotional thing for me. You know we have come way to far too start all over again so you just hang in there because we have a lot of parties coming up and we are going to be very busy. We won't have time to smoke. I hope you are feeling better. Cheryl, You're SO not alone!!! I think you're the THIRD smober in a week to post having a struggle... so believe me, there must be something with this time period that we're all having problems with! Just know that you're not alone. I too was having some difficulties and posted that I was on the verge of going to buy a pack. I'm glad you posted. For me, just posting made me feel better. I hope it does you too. Just remember how bad it was in the beginning? Having to go through this ALL THE TIME instead of just once in a while? I know I'm glad that I don't have to do that again!!! It's good to see you. I was thinking of you a few days ago when I was having my struggles... my N.O.P.E. bracelet was about the only thing keeping me from smoking... and I owe the idea all to you! :) Anyway, I hope you feel better soon. :) Crave the Quit! Hey guys, Thanks for the kind thoughts, and for the place to put all these complaints when I get crazy. I am doing fine now... busy planning a party for Luna, and then Lady's graduation is May 6 and got to have a big blowout for that. Her family isn't even going to the graduation.. so she is going to celebrate with us... Be thinking and getting ready. Hi, I am having a tuff couple of days here for no reason at all. I just seem to be constantly fighting the idea of going back to smoking. I guess it started because I held a dinner party for some friends and I haven't done that since I quit, so it was ripe with a lot of reminders of smoking. I am not a person who finds entertaining easy. Any way I just have not been able to shake it off since then. I have worked my way through my coping techniques and have started on them a second time, but the idea is still around. You would think after all this time I would be better at this. So far I am not smoking, but the scales are going to hate me... Breathing now to keep the tears at bay. If this had happened in my first couple of weeks, I would be screaming out in the main forum, but I don't want to scare all the newbies. For the most part being quit is great. I think that I will go drwon me in the bathtub for awhile and see if that will get me past. Maybe I will turn out the lights and just listen to music. The anxiety is causing a BIG headache and I need to relax and get my mind back togeather again. Thanks for the room to vent. Hi, Cheryl. It takes at least a year to get through the major, seasonal triggers. From what I've learned rooting around on the Internet, it could take as long as 18 months for the brain to fully recover from the nicotine's insults. This is based on neurological research into cocaine and nicotine addiction. The good news is every newly encountered situation you get through weakens or completly extinguishes the trigger. The next dinner party may not cause any craves or urges at all. Hang in there, Cheryl. You've gotten this far, you can make it the rest of the way. Revert back to hell week coping if you have to. Remember it's only temporary. Hi Cheryl :) I totally agree with Shevie and you did the right thing by posting your feelings. I went through the same thing only on a smaller scale. Enough though to know what you are feeling. Like you said the other night the snow is finally gone you are in a new season and it won't be long before the boat will be finished. In other words spring is here time to rejoice may be work with a garden or flower bed. Get involved with your life on a new scale, one that does not include smoking or thoughts there of. Parties are great and hosting one can be a challenge but it can be done and like Shevie said the next party will be easier and less demanding. Cheryl you are one strong individual. I have had the pleasure of watching you grow in your quit, read your posts and help you celebrate. 18 more days and you will hit that magic 300 mark that is the final turn on the road to freedom from nicotine addiction. I want to help you celebrate that day. With kindest regards, Duffis duffis's Quit Stats Since Sunday, February 13, 2005, I've been smoke-free for: 1 Year(s), 58 Days, 6 Hours, 40 Minutes, 16 Seconds. I have saved $1,776.60 by not smoking 12698 cigarettes. By not smoking I have added 91 Days, 16 Hours, 44 Minutes, 3 seconds. to my life expectancy.

Cheryl- Be strong, these late shocking attacks do get overwhelming. Like all of them ,they do pass. I think Shevie and Duffis are both right with the seasonsal triggers and probably more so the dinner party. Gosh, we were robots as far as the cigarette rewards doing something we found difficult especially. Shevie's research is indicating 18 months. I'm not totally there yet so plugging along. Thanks to all. Thinking of you, cheering for you. Cheryl, Look at how far you have come and be pleased. Break out the coping mechanisms for the time being and know that it will soon pass. Relaxation techniques are a great way to relieve extra stress and know that you can do this. We are always here, Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
