New and nervous

Welcome cg2,

I am so sorry to hear you are feeling hopeless right now. Depression can really colour perspective and it is common for people with depression to feel hopeless and down. It is also common for people with depression to be hard on themselves. I notice you said "how I did this to myself". Please know that depression is not your fault. You did not do anything to deserve this. I think a big part of your recovery will involve you having compassion for yourself. How would you support a loved one with depression? What would you say to your loved one if they said "how did I do this to myself?" Put some thought into these questions as I often find we do not give ourselves the same compassion and understanding as we give to our loved ones. You deserve that some care and compassion.

I am very glad you found us and you will be beginning the program. I think you will find the content very helpful. Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

Take care,

Hi, I was first diagnosed with depression about a year ago, but didn't believe it.  A year later it has gotten worse to the point where I am more than just tired and out of energy but to having physical effects as well.  I am nervous about everything (including writing this).  I work for a good company but there is a lot of pressure and balancing the position with my home life has been challenging as one of my children has some challenges as well that I work really hard to help him mange and advocate for his support.  I am hoping that I can work through this and get back to my day to day. I struggle with my feelings quite a bit as I have very supportive family and friends and don't really understand how I did this to myself.

I look forward to the benefits the program can bring as I am feeling hopeless right now.
