Technical Difficulties

Hi Ashley,
I indeed ask myself that very question and try to remember that I am do what I can for her by letting her know I'm here if she needs me.  One of my struggles over the years has been remembering that the pain and struggles of others isn't mine to deal with and that I must take care of myself first.  It's gotten easier over time but I sometimes struggle separating others pain from my own especially when I'm having a really off day.  I'm feeling better and aware that I can only do what I can and my life is mine to live.  Knowing my sister-in-law, she would want me to live that life and just be a support to her and my brother when needed.

Thank you Linda for your words! Sometimes we just need to see what others have to say to help regain focus and move forward on our own journey.

The last couple of days have been pretty good.  I'm working the program and am taking my time so as to ensure the best possible outcome, which is back to the place I was at just a few short months ago.  I'm feeling some relief that I have the time to focus on this journey and am remembering to get out of the house, even if just for a walk around the block or some time out side with the dogs.  Linda, I'm sorry that your pup has a sore leg.  It is sad to see them in so much pain, but I know you are doing all you can.  I wish Skylar all the the best.

Take care and bless all.  This program is wonderful!

Hi rosiesmom,

Dealing with sadness is so very hard.  There is sadness all around and sometimes it is a job to focus on the positive.  My fur baby Skyler (12 year old Cavalier King Charles) injured his hind leg Wednesday.  We took him to the vet as he can barely walk...he is my constant, loyal companion and it makes me so sad to see him like this, knowing that osteoarthritis is a progressive, degenerative disease.   I can hardly look at him without bursting into tears.  Many would say he is "just a dog" but he is so much more to me.  I lost my horse 2 years ago and she too was a loyal companion.  It is hard to surpass the unconditional love and loyalty that a pet gives you.  I am recognizing that my thoughts are causing me to downward spiral and that doesn't do me or him any good.  I have to focus on making his life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, which is what we have to do with people as well.   I hope that you can focus on being strong for your sister-in-law and help improve her quality of life as best you can.  We also found out that a local acquaintance of ours lost his 26 year old son in an accident...so tragic.  It too plays on my mind and makes me feel guilty for having any feelings of joy.  Loss is a part of life and dealing with it is so hard.  I will search the web for coping mechanisms as I think it is important to find some to help us navigate this life of ours.  Stay strong & remember to print off the thought records to help you see the connection between your thoughts and how you are feeling.

Welcome back everyone! Glad to see you all.

Sorry to hear you are feeling down rosiesmom. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now.  I do have a question for you though to help you challenge some of your negative thoughts, how do you think you sister-in-law would want you to feel about her being unwell?  How do you think she would want it to effect your life?

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since coming on and with the site being down it indeed made one feel adrift.  I didn't think to write down daily my thoughts and times of least and most depressed so I have some blanks in my record.
I've been feeling quite down as of late but I'm dealing with a migraine which is making even this difficult to do.  I just feel like Miss doom and gloom.  Also my sick sister-in-law is now dealing with another infection which really saddens me.  It's enough that she is dealing with this brain tumor already!
Anyways I'm glad we're back on line and will continue working the program.

Take care all!

Yes welcome back everyone.  I must say I missed the support & felt a bit alone.  I continue to tackle the thought records & faithfully do my meditation and yoga daily - still at the beginner level but the time commitment is not too much so I stick with it.  I recommend it highly for a de stressor ...I felt a bit light headed afterwards and checked my blood pressure....94/70!  Wow, that's relaxed...baby steps!  I'm eating more healthy so am feeling a lot better.  I hope all is well with everyone.

Thank you for letting us know... I was worried that the site was no longer available.  Whatever would I do without it?!
