Understanding Social Anxiety - Part II

I don't give people the chance to reject me.  When feeling anxious and depressed, I go into agoraphobe mode... withdraw from everyone and every place...don't answer the phone or door or email... don't even go out to check the snail mail.  It's a struggle to get to therapy and hard to come back here even though I know both places to be very accepting of me.

Hit the nail on the head here, Ashley. That's precisely how I feel.

As we’ve seen before, depression and anxiety can result in many other issues.  People with depression or anxiety often feel that they’re different from others and/or that people somehow can tell that they’re “different” or “not right”.  As a result people with anxiety or depression are often on the lookout for evidence that others are rejecting them.

Have any members here felt this way?
