Holistic Massage is a full body massage that is tailored by ensuring an interview is done prior to the treatment.  Holistic means 'whole' so the intent is not just to get your muscles relaxed like some forms of massage but instead, a massage that is tailored for you.  E.g You're asked "How would you like to feel after the massage?" and depending on your answer, the massage strokes and techniques used are added to induce those reactive feelings.

I will tread carefully with my response as I am not a health care provider however, Holistic therapies are based on the concept of working with homeostasis.  They do not use any form of external energies or import 'healing' however work with what your body is physically and emotionally capable of.  E.g  If you're in a manic phase, and you're body is trying to stabalise itself, then something like Reflexology would act as a catalyst in this process.  It engages the parasympathetic response system which counteracts the fight flight response.

It would be something absolutely worth considering.  It would be very unlikely that Reflexology of holistic massage could trigger a manic or the opposite.  It would at least sooth symptoms of this disorder and help your bod to function physically at its fully potential.  Reflexology is esepcially worth consideration as it works all 10 systems of the body.

So in answer to your questions to make sure I covered it:
Should I bee looking towards one decipline more than another?  - Yes Holistic massage or reflexology
Is one type better adapted to a slow healing ...? Both are good at helping the body to heal within its own timescale and within its own limits.

just the type of person I wanted to catch!!!

I am bipolar.  and am a bit worried about alternative medicine because conventional medicine has a standard training and still treatments tend to cause me to balance back and forth a bit ... well last summer I felt like the pirate ship at the amusement park  thanks to my anti-depressant.  Alternative treatments have a multitude of trainingsss and I am looking for someone to releave the physical stresses and tensions of the body without pushing me into a hypomanic good mood with relief. Should I bee looking towards one decipline more than another?  Is one type better adapted to a slow healing ...?

ah yes with the least touch possible?

As a Holistic Therapist, I would be happy to answer any questions regarding the following therapies:

-Reflexology
-Indian Head Massage
-Massage
-Hopi Ear Candling

I myself have found them useful to an extent in that they do rebalance your body physically.  Reflexology is especially beneficial for sleeping problems and my pattern gets out of habit, I always have some Reflexology and it kicks everything back to normal.  I could talk for a long time about them and the benefits I have experienced however it is they type of therapy that is personal and is adapted to your needs so your benefits may be different to others.

Like I said, happy to answer questions people may have about it and I will be honest. :)

Dear Members,

In addition to the support you’re receiving online, outside therapy and medication; many other alternative therapies exist to help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety. They include but are not limited to:

• Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, Tai Chi, Ayurveda, Massage
• Aromatherapy
• Magnet Therapy, Light therapy, ESR
• Herbal supplements, nutritional therapy and Chinese medicine
• Educational materials

At this time we would like to remind all our members that although taking herbal supplements, Chinese medicine or making changes in your diet has been beneficial to some, it is not always safe. For this reason, it is always highly recommended to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before pursuing any naturopathic regiment as it may conflict with other current health conditions and/or medications you are taking.

We now invite our members to share their experiences with alternative therapies and/or ask questions.
