By far not alone. I think there may be many of us and none of us want to admit we need help or that we are lost in the dark.

Wildcat, Hang in there. The highs can be scary. Perhaps employing a relaxation strategy may help ease the anxiety a little? Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

thank you so very much Lady. I feel so close to panic. I have had it under such good control, but these huge changes are provoking the anxiety. It is good to know that I am not alone in looking for answers and vocabulary.

Just remember one day at a time and one step at a time Wildcat. I know I'm not one to talk because I freak out all the time too. I don't have any advice or anything. The only thing I have to offer is an open ear and a open heart. I understand the frantic.. I don't know what is wrong and I don't know what to do next... concept. I live in it more than is comfortable for me. Lady

hi caimansbetty, I saw the posts that note what are the "symptoms" but there is precious little info about to look out for. I belong to a self-help group for anxiety disorders, and those that have gained control of the disorder coach those who are in over their heads... so we discuss the levels of anxiety we need to be aware of. We discuss the "little" signs that tell us we are on the trail to a panic... with these landmarks we then are able to use different exercises and meditations to keep the anxiety at manageable levels. So this is what I am looking for now with bipolar disorder ... some landmarks that point the way to where I am heading. The Revivre group I just started might be of help in 2 or 3 weeks, but that seems far away. Also, I am trying to understand some of the mecanisms of the disorder... the this is what happens in general... the typical senario... also, there is a little voice that keeps saying... they got you wrong once, they might be wrong again...

hi lady... maybe I am scared. I can't let go, I can't lose control. I am afraid of being bipolar. I am afraid of completely losing it and becoming a danger to myself - who my family needs- and to others. I have always been afraid of being spontanious and of losing control (part of OCD). So these recent mood swings due to rebalancing my meds and my period... are very frightening. I have never felt something so stong. I have NEVER been impulsive. (to the point my husband hates shopping with me! and coached me to get my driver's licence). I have never had so much trouble concentrating and getting back in focus. I have my colony of gerbles in my head but those are all little brown rodents of worry... not a bag of feral cats! I can handle on or two projects springing up and wanting to be done but not as many as I have had... and as urgent. So I have scared myself. I know how to handle the lows but I have not hit these heights yet and I am having aa bad case of vertigo. I have to learn about the second pole in bipolar. Monday when I go to my group I will try to get some books from the info center...

Wildcat, Why are you feeling like this? That is the purpose of the thought record. To recognize WHY you feel the way you do. What do you feel and how are you reacting to those feelings. What can you do differently to change those feelings and thoughts. I know... not so easy to answer. I think that is what this is trying to teach us. If I'm way off base, someone please tell me.

hi lady, spoiled brat as being the center of the world... don't bother with groceries - buy me that beautiful wool scarf. don't worry about the rent lets drive for two days to south carolina ... I want paints and prints, and fabrics, and to the wind with work. I know that I could tighten up on one or two things and spend 10 or 20 dollars on some beight beeds and a paint sample to decorate a corner or two. But I want to cry with frustration right now. It is 1:30. I am seriously holding back from flying off right now. My life is boring. i want an adventure. I want to meet a muscled skinny 20-something gentleman and run away to a beautiful beach nowhere. I have moments of spontanaity. I have day dreams. But this mood is too much. I want to run so much that I have twitches. I can't sit still nor concentrate on the basics of what I SHOULD be doing. I am thinking about a million projects FOR TONIGHT !!! in the place of sleep. Hopfully my body will fall unconcious before I make a mess. when i am like this everything just falls out of my hands and I end up throwing it all onto the floor! - not ideal with glass beads.

Hi widcat, There are plenty of things that could be done to "escape winter" basically each individual could do something that makes them happy. It could also give you an opportunity to enjoy indoor activities, like playing cards with friends or familly, watching movies, making a scrap book or crafts, a little home improvements? Anything that makes you feel good! Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator
