I'm Back. Should I take Effexor?

NP, Two options: Overcome the fear or have someone call for you and work on this fear at a later date. If you need help overcoming this and other phobias, please be sure to visit our sister site: www.paniccenter.net Keep us posted. You can do this!

I am afraid to use the phone. I don't know if I can do this. Just thinking about doing this is making me shake all over. It probably would be good if I overcame my fears. There's a lot of things I don't do because I am afraid. I know there's nothing to be afraid of but I'm afraid anyway. I'll let you know what happens.

NullPointer, Call your doctor's office. Ask to speak to him/her or his assistant nurse and get this straightened out. If you cannot get a hold of your doctor, call your pharmacist. They also have a copy of your order and may be able to explain the difference between the Effexor XR and the regular Effexor. Hang in there. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I don't know what to do. The samples doc gave me before were Effexor XR and the new script is for regular Effexor. I don't know if I can use the rest of the samples or not since what I got on my script is regular instead of XR. DAWG. Just when it seems like I am making progress, something like this shows up. So I am supposed to take two 75mg twice a day but the script said 150 twice a day. I know that's the same thing, but only Effexor XR comes in 150. I think the most regular Effexor comes in is 100. So best I can tell is that it's the same stuff, just ones in a capsule and the other is in a tablet. Then there's the other thing. If Doc meant to say 150 twice a day and he was really talking about XR, that would be wrong because you're only supposed to take XR once a day. Now what if I took two 75 Effexor XR's twice a day, would that make things messed up since they're extended release? I don't know what to do. I think that Doc probably wrote the script for the regular Effexor since you can get it in generic. I checked the Walmart list, but it's not on there, but it's still a generic. Now I know what you're thinking, and you're wrong: I have insurance. It just sucks. So I am paying over $800 per month now, and I don't have hardly any money left for anything else. so when I go to the doc it still costs $30 and then if I get the scripts it's the sky's the limit unless its generic. So, after paying $800 for a month of insurance, then I have to pay a total of $50 to see the doctor and get meds. This means that I have to leave something else unpaid and that's a really bad thing because the credit bureaus write it down when you don't pay or if you're late paying and they really don't care why. Now I could pay the bill and not get the medicine and then I'd be all freaked out and depressed and thinking about hurting myself so which is better? I am getting very upset about this. I don't know what to do and it's about time for me to do something because if I don't take the medicine on time, my head starts feeling like it's in a vice and I'd rather just feel good if you know what I mean. Then I wonder why doc wants me to take 300 instead of 150. He said he thinks I'm doing better and now he's double the script and that makes me think that HE really thinks that I am really a freak and that I'm still dangerous to myself. Since I've started the effexor I've only had a couple of the crying, out-of-control spells and I only have gotten angry twice. I think that's pretty good. I've not missed any work either and that's good too because I've been missing a day or two every week before that because of my uncontrolled emotions and not feeling like doing anything so I think I am doing better, so why do I need to DOUBLE the meds? I think I really am psycho wacko after all because 300 mg is for the truly looney from what I've heard about. Sorry to run on a bit here, but if you're ever going to take effexor, my experience might help you. Right now? Well, I am either going to take two 75 effexor or two 75 effexor xr. I just don't want to get messed up or anything... I'll tell you what I do, but if you have anything to say about it I will be interested. Thanks! Null

NullPointer, Including the date is a good idea. You may also want to try putting down the times and taking them at the same time everyday and/or setting a little alarm to remind you. Have you looked into prescription coverage through your insurance? No-name brands? Internet? Sometimes prescription delivery companies offer a discount if you join for a small fee. wow that seems like a lot of work... i think i'll stick to my weekly pill case. oh by the way, can you take the generic form of the drug. It is less pricy, and your insurance might still give you the same coverage...

Danielle, that's something I need to try because I forget whether I took it or not and then I'm afraid of taking it again just to make sure because I might have taken it already. I'm a little bit worried though because Doc changed my dose and I am out of the samples so I am afraid of whether I am going to be able to purchase it or not. I feel like I am making progress and so does he, but he doesn't understand the dilemma of finding ways to pay for medicine even with insurance. I think I'll put a mark for every one I take. Then, if I can be sure that I actually "took" it after I removed it from the container, I can put a mark on the bottle. Then when I get confused, I can count how many are left compared to how many marks I have, but that might not be enough... I might need to put the date on there too somehow.

NullPointer, It sounds like your body is adjusting well to the medication. You may find it helpful to keep a pen and tick sheet next to your bottle to ensure you're taking all the doses prescribed. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

hi nullpointer, I have been taking effexor xr 150 (well the generic one) since dec 2005. It helps to smooth out the rough spots but the thinking is still there. I am bipolar with big downs and a few little highs (highs are not always happy times - they are often high energy irritability and high worry). I have to learn that the illness is part chemical so effexot is perfect. The illness is part psychologial so theapy and the site help me see where my reasoning is breaking down to start me on the path of the down-ward spirial. I am also learning about why I am so sleepy... I put too much energy into fighting my emotions to remain happy and smily in front of everyone... I put too much energy into my anxiety and its turbulant thoughts... So, if the effexor is working and you are better that is excellent!! but remember you are a whole person which a whole bunch of issues to look at. and this is work so remember to rest.

NullPointer, Thanks for the update. Make sure you update your doc with all the side effects that you are experiencing. Keep working on getting the dosage right. Brenna Bilingual Health Educator
