Hi Dygt,
I believe that our thoughts responsible to our feelings, and this is what I'm working for, to stop negative self talk. It's not easy though, when you do it so unconsiuosly! The other you mentioned is behaviour. I read somewhere (might be on SSC site?) this quote: "act the way you want to be, and soon you will be the way you act" I think this is true, and CBT is the tool to learn how to go down this path.
Take care and have a nice day,
kicse
Dear kicse,
I agree, this is a very supportive community. I guess, like most of us in this forum, it's all about feelings, and as I read somewhere, they just are, they cannot be challenged, but our behaviors and environment can be, and the support here helps all of us identify what situations we are in, and how to possibly make things better.
Welcome to you too, and nice to hear from you!!
take care,
dygt
Dear Dygt,
I'm glad that you came. It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job identifying your feelings and the situations when they occur. It does hard to express feelings or even talk about them, but this is what a support group is for. Although I'm a newbie here, I've read lots of posts, and this community is very supporting!
Take care
kicse
Thanks for the kind words, Josie... I try to read what's on the support group, as alot of it is encouraging. I will take the test to my therapist and see what she thinks. I am glad I found this community, as I need some kind of "contact" with people in between visits with my doctor. I feel as if I am not so alone, and this is giving me something to do on my own, to help myself. Thanks again...
dy,
Welcome to our support community! It is great to see you are working with your doctor. Be sure to take the Depression Test to your doctor. This may better assess the situation for you both.
We are always here for support and knowledge. Please let us guide you through.
Congratulations on taking control and doing something about it!
Josie

I joined on 25 June 06. I didn't introduce myself because I really didn't know what to say. I started the 16 week session on 6 June, and have found out some things about my depression. I am finding the situations where I feel the worst and the best. And writing down your feelings helps track your ups and downs (moods). I feel this to be beneficial, as I am not good at expressing my feelings to someone else. I will take this to my therapist to help her see how I've feeling since the last session. I am also finding out that I am not the only one feeling the way I do, I am not alone, and there is help and hope. Reading some of the posts are very inspiring, and the information on this site is extremely informative.
