Welcome Jawalker,

Thank you for sharing your experience and compassion with us. Anxiety can be extremely tough to deal with, it sounds like you are doing your best to manage it. Are you seeking therapy in addition to the medication. Do you plan on working on the program here? How are you feeling today?

Hi I am a 31 year old female who developed a panic disorder six years ago after a miscarriage. At first I didn't believe it was a mental issue because I had never had one before and no one in my family had an anxiety disorder. But the medicine they put me on (Lexapro) helped in time. So I don't know how or why, but something about the miscarriage triggered something in my mind, I guess.
I have been dealing off and on with flare ups ever since then, and when it gets really bad I am completely not functional. I have to ask family to come in and care for my five year old. What's funny is I can't remember much from the really bad days. My family says I just sat in a chair trembling and didn't talk the whole day. I would take Xanax to knock me out at night. The first flare up, they added wellbutrin to the Lexapro. The second flare up, they increased the dosage of the wellbutrin. The third flare up they switched me from Lexapro to Cymbalta. That is what I am currently on. I have had a few panic attacks on Cymbalta but I have been able to recover and still function as a mom. I just want to say this is a terrible disease and I feel sorry for everyone out there who is struggling with it.
