How´s it going?

Hi Gailerina,
I like this forum so I can vent too!

I'll be that caregiving is easier for younger people taking care of infants, as long as they are healthy, probably I suspect, since being an infant is temporary.  Also, young families control the government resources through their social networking, while older people like me, and their dependents may come last, I'm finding.

With older adults, I found some help going to workshops, and caregiver support groups, where I got some emotional support, as well as many tips on caring.  I was never aware I had a choice of getting a geriatrician, until my parent's cardiologist recommended one, for example.  Groups can help, but I remember one physician stating that it's like "the hungry trying to feed the hungry".

Since I'm no fun on a Saturday night, it doesn't surprise me that I can't find help within my family social circle, although I do have many people with resources, I've always felt it was an imposition to ask for help.

I'm feel off this morning and I know why I believe. It just sucks.

I like mental bubbles, it helps. The older I get, I feel the worst people get. I used to be a fan of Black Friday shopping and I really want to hold onto that tradition because of my dad, but I just can't do it this year. After last year and all the stupid stores opening so early, it doesn't feel the same :(

Even in regular stores, it can be crazy to just get out of the parking lot.

People are just in such a hurry, they rarely pay attention to people.

It's getting cold here too, but I am hoping it doesn't snow. I don't like driving in it anymore.

Lately some mornings it has been hard for me to get up again and I don't want to sink back into where I was a few weeks ago. My mom had an episode last night (that is what we call them). I discovered she was experimenting with her insulin :/ I threaten to take her to the hospital. Thursday is the anniversary of my dad's death, so we knew the episodes were coming. She gets really angry or sad, so we have to watch her so she doesn't do anything stupid. I don't think she will kill herself, as she sees it as a sin. Could she accidentally kill herself? Yes. We have to make sure she takes all her medicines. My sister is to call her primary care doctor today to see about refilling her nerve medicine or getting her on some kind of anti-depressant. I am worry about her, her sight is failing and she has mentioned she would never want to live if she can not see :/ She has not eating well either, she gets these thoughts in her head that believes are fact and follows them. She believes is she gets to certain weight, she will get better and be healed....that is never going to happen. She has too many health problems and she never takes care of herself. I control everything, even the money. I buy her proper foods and we don't let her snack all the time. My mom is like taking care of a 5 to 6 year old at times. Her angry causes tantrums, but they have not been violent in a long time.

Sorry I'm ranting.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Should have mentioned it is a mental bubble.

I got side tracked today and took my tractor to the neighbours to use up some summer diesel before I put in winter fuel. I re piled a burn pile that was almost out and got me and the tractor filthy. It was fun though but cold, it is below freezing.

Snow tonight and tomorrow. What is, is, right. Well that aught to get jasper screaming to come in. Poor Jasper won't get on the bed since he accidentally took the chunk out of my leg. Going for a dressing change tomorrow.

A good day even though I spent too much time on the computer.

When you are an Orange you notice apples more but for me to stay an orange and not let them affect me I carry a bubble. A slightly opaque one. Just clear enough I can avoid them. This can be negative or positive depending on how I want to look at it. I have to pass through their world to get what I want but I don't have to let it stick to me. I can enjoy the scenery while avoiding the people trying to drive up my exhaust pipe. It is a pain to always be looking a head. It takes longer having to wait for them to get out of the way. I guess after 25 years of Arthritis I have got used to it still my focus for the day is the people that are courteous. There are so few and I feel they deserve a smile at least for the attempt they make. I will not become an apple. If I do the few nice people will be one less. I ordered case lots from my little store, to support the nice people there. I buy my gas there too. At least I have my home for anchor and it is a solid anchor.

Back home and looking for ways to keep the negative thoughts away again.

The people in the city seem to be moving at such a fast pace now that they have forgotten all reasoning and manners..We went to the store for supplies Saturday and Sunday and people were exiting so fast from the store with their shopping carts without looking where they were going and almost ran over me. I had to try to dodge them quickly several times which hurt my back, hip and hernias. I was not moving fast enough yesterday. When I was getting in my car to leave some young gal came running up to my door and startled me screeching and saying she  had to get in her car that second. She couldn't even wait for me to get my legs in the passenger side of my car so I could shut my door..

The more exposure I do the less I want to be out amongst the masses ever again..I can barely stand it now.
I think I will start stock piling groceries and supplies again..This way I may be able to survive the fast pace and will not have to expose myself to this type of abuse by a bunch of mindless robots quite as often..I do care about my health and saving my life and limb at this stage in my life so this has to be one of my top priorities now..
Exposure work is not working for me now..Actually it is hurting me and setting me back now..Go figure.

The World is Changing at such a fast pace now..I heard it referred to as the Quickening over a decade ago..
I am not sure I can stand to be in it anymore..

No the salt factor in a bread maker is different than by hand. This is why instructions are so precise, even to the brand of flour. A package of yeast is good for two loaves so in a bread maker a whole pack is too much and salt would slow it down. There is also a time factor since in a bread maker every thing is by time. I buy my yeast in bulk so I can use what ever I need only. And there is no time factor for me, When it is rose it is ready. For pizza I use twice a much yeast as for bread because I want it rose fast and don't have fast acting yeast to use.

There is absolutely no salt added to wine yet the yeast works perfectly fine.

Sill you don't need salt but can certainly use it. Bread is supposed to be made out of hard red wheat which has more gluten in it but most recipe's are adjusted to use all purpose. And for this reason Bread flour is hard to come by. A mixer is so much more versatile but if you use a bread maker I think you are stuck with the recipe. No for those without high blood pressure salt is no problem. I've never looked for salt free bread recipe's. I just leave the salt out of everything. The only thing I use salt for is to make Sauerkraut because it has to have it. I rinse it before I use it.

Davit.

PS Celery is very high in sodium so makes a good salt substitute in soup but still is no good if you have water retention.

Davit,
The salt factoid about being related to rising bread was in the manual, so maybe it was an error.  That would deflate a lot of expectations(and loaves)

Salt is used for texture in bread and for those that have a need to eat salty food it makes it salty, but in no way is it necessary. Salt slows down the speed yeast works so the bubbles are smaller, but you still get the same amount of carbon dioxide which is what makes it rise. You also get alcohol but that cooks off and is no longer present. Yeast needs sugar which it can get from flour by itself but usually comes from honey or sugar or the sugar in milk. Or in whole wheat bread from molasses. Bread is very forgiving as far as moisture content is concerned. Oil or fat is for elasticity as is the fat in milk. Again just for texture. Yeast works best at between 60 and 90 degrees F. Fast rising yeast for bread makers has yeast nutrient in it to make it rise faster. But without salt it rises fast with bigger bubbles. Gluten in flour is what holds the bubbles in. Bran breaks the strands and gives you a heavier coarser loaf. So use more yeast. Punching the bread down allows the yeast to multiply and give a better texture without using salt but it uses more sugar and the loaf then has a different taste. Or you can use slightly more sugar. Traditional yeast works too slow for bread makers.
I use a Kitchen Aid mixer because it does a very good job of kneading. Well worth the money. Mine must be ten years old. Salt is supposed to increase flavour in foods but to me it just tastes like salt.

Davit.

I use traditional yeast and proof it.

Hi Davit,
What do you substitute for salt, since I understand that salt helps the bread rise?  You must use a different yeast....?

Today I cleaned mom's humidifier with bleach instead of white vinegar.  Another part of the machine was supposed to use bleach, and I mistakenly used bleach for both parts.  Reading an incendiary article(no pun intended) describe how toxic bleach is, but then they suggested using tree oil, which I have and bought too much of.

Even the new unit I researched isn't perfect, since the most popular ultrasonic units produce ozone, which is a trigger for asthmatics.  But the industry doesn't report the amounts.  It's not wonder, since their bells and whistles have to be justified for the ridiculous prices they charge for what is essentially a fancy steam kettle, as you suggested.    I do want to buy one though, since the ones with cool mist can help recover from colds, which are inevitable.
