How´s it going?

Red,
I had to mention that apparently, some meds have salt, so if you can have the pharmacist look at those, it might help.  I'm going to do that later too.

Richard stopped in on his way home to see if I was okay. I sent him home with a case of cider and some wine. But first he cleaned the snow off the deck and split some wood for me. He will come back with his helper and they will split some more wood since I won't be allowed to after surgery, which I still don't have a date for. For this they can help themselves to my wine cellar. I need the room for this years wine. I can do this since they are social drinkers with meals. Otherwise the wine would stay there. Amazing what I can trade for a few bottles.
He told me the new cell tower is going up now. Improved faster service. I've been waiting for this.

After packing wine down to the cellar and empty bottle up I'm discovering I'm not quite up to snuff as I thought. This could be depressing if I let it. It is just the lifting is all.

The sun is shining and it is up to -12C. This used to be ideal skiing weather when I could still ski. One of the trails was 17 miles one way. All up hill in two narrow valleys beside the river that ran through them. Coming back was easier but still a lot of work. Often I was the only one out there besides wolves and wild animals. I loved it. Well I can't ski any more but I can still remember. If I go back farther I can remember running my dog team on days like this. If I think about it I can remember being snow blind for three days too. Lot of pain in my past but none of it holds lasting horrors or affects my present. They were just things that happened and are over.

So I think since I am not up to snuff yet I'll clean a bit to be doing something. I have soup to finish making too.

I had a very nice Thanksgiving this year. We had a very nice visit with my family, my son, daughter in law and my two grandchildren stopped by for a visit. The next day Edd and I went to see a nice family movie called The Christmas Candle at the movie theater. We have done a lot of walking the last few days and are still following very low carb low sodium diet plus we have given up wheat and sugar too. I have dropped 8 pounds in the last 2 weeks so I am feeling very positive about the choices I have made and the direction that I am going in, for the time being. I find myself looking forward to Christmas this year. Tomarrow I may even start working on my Christmas Quilt again..

Hugs
I know all of the staff in our hospital and most of their families, even some of their pets. It isn't a bad thing. Just remember that hospitals are full of bacteria that can do a lot of damage to you and that they can live for days on smooth surfaces. Avoid reading magazines and touching things like arm rests and use the alcohol hand wash often if you are there very long. If you are in ER often you should get a bottle and do your hands and your parents before you get there. Prevention works, cure doesn't always. We may get back to a time when people wore cotton gloves when they left the house. Latex gloves are great carriers of bacteria and are meant to protect the staff, not you. They are not sterile except for the surgical ones in sterile packs. This may sound like scare tactics but take it from some one with two Chronic infections from hospitals unless you are very healthy, the precautions are worth the trouble.

Spent a day in emergency hospital with parent.  I need sleep, and will resume my life in the morning.

It worries me that I'm becoming familiar with the staff in the emergency wing of a hospital.  However, the good care is something I value.

Snowing lightly. Christmas snow, the stuff that looks nice coming down but doesn't amount to much.
Still sitting around freezing but going to drop better than ten degrees after the weekend. Three more months of winter at least and it could get very cold so I'm enjoying this. Knowing my neighbour will clean my driveway when he does his makes the snow so much more enjoyable. There is of course the fact that it is needed for next years ground water. Times change, a hundred years ago there would have been nothing here but trees and wild animals. Eighty years ago there would have been a barn where my garage is and a shed for a wagon and a sled for winter. Going to the store would be an all day chore. No roads and few cars. And it was a lot colder then. Certainly a healthier life for the healthy, but it must have been hell for those not. Hard enough for me with plowed roads and a warm car. Electric lights and an electric stove. I would trade it all to go back forty years to when I could still run and could still snowshoe all day, when going to town meant hours behind a dog team.
There are horrors in my past but I remember few of them now. Developing a positive attitude has allowed me to see the good in my past and realize the good in the present will become the past and worth remembering. It is my choice and watching the snow come down I realize I could look at everything with a different attitude and be miserable or spend the rest of my life looking for something that is right in front of my face.

Well it rained. You know how the highway gets when it is wet, black and hard to see. Add in dirty headlights and only one eye and it makes for an interesting drive. Sure going to be glad when the cataract is fixed, but by then the other one will be gone so it is going to be months before I'm back to normal. I got my tests done and everything is normal, no sign of any infection. Blood pressure is still high so we added a diuretic. Beta blocker is making me sluggish and not bringing down the BP far enough. I went to the library while I was in town and got a bag full of DVDs. Rain on the snow made it a bit slippery. Tomorrow I need to go to the store for a bag of cheaper cat food for the strays. Jasper eats like a horse, and special cat food is four dollars a pound. He just likes to eat.
I think lasagna for supper.

For a few minutes snowflakes came down and it was so nice. Tis the season I suppose.

I have to go to town in a few hours, I might not find it so cute then.
