A day at the movies, seen any good ones lately

Last night I watched two movies, the first was very good but very disturbing. It was about Cancer and letting go and very accurate. I really liked it but it was going to keep me awake so I watched this other one which was crap. All it did was annoy me with it's inaccuracy. The book was good but a bit of a tear jerker, the movie was terrible. Mistakes in every scene. It would be okay if it was fantasy but it was meant to be an accurate portrayal of an actual fact. It did what I wanted though which was take my mind off the first movie.

Ashley

I found the kings speech to be a very good movie on it's own but as a movie showing the pain and frustration of a person trying to work with a disability it was even better. It also showed how this condition can leave you being alone while surrounded by people. Well worth watching. :-)

Hi Red,

Thanks for the movie tip, I will have to watch it. Funny you mention movies I just watched The Kings Speech. It is about a king who has trouble with public speeking - actually quite good also. But then again I might be a little bit more invested in movies about someone with an anxiety disorder then other people

Hugs,
If you want to go to a movie it sure is worth..and it's ok going it alone lot of people do these days..I started going to movies alone after my husband passed..It was a way of killing time and dealing with my grief and major anxiety..
First I started walking at the mall for a couple of hours at a time. Then one day while walking at the mall I got real tired and sat down to rest and I meet this man who just happen to be a veteran. He was in a wheelchair and said he had come to the mall to get away from his family for a while. Anyway we got to talking and we were both alone so we decided to see a movie together that day..I have never seen him again but after that day I knew it was safe and fine to go to movies by myself and so I started going to movies again and out to dinner too..Alone..Lots of people do it where I live..

Davit hope you get to see it soon. I think you can buy movies on amazon too if you don't want to wait for the library to get it in..I like to shop on amazon for books, movies and dvd's..I even go a battery for my laptop for 1/3 of the cost on amazon. You can buy gift cards at lots of stores where I live and then load the gift card up on your computer on amazons on line site..I love to shop this way. I have found it to be totally save..and it sure does safe a lot of money since you don't have to drive around waisting gasoline..

Red,

That's a good outing, despite the busy mall time.

I'm not sure going out alone is worth it.  Getting a microwave allows me the benefit of making popcorn now, though, although it is too salty(it was before my healthier diet).

The last movie on TV, if I could mention a TV movie, was Rudy, about overcoming obstacles.  I had nightmares though, since I guess I'd felt resentment from so many colleagues at work, and eventually left.

I also recall playing football, the year after I broke my leg and arm in my first year of high school.  I didn't recognize what a feat this was, until someone commended another for similarly resuming his competitive sport.  I think I'm hard on myself.

That movie was recommended to me by a couple of internet friends as being very good. I have to wait till the library gets it on DVD because we don't have a theatre here.

Today was what you might call a exposure day..First we went for at walk at  the air conditioned the mall at 7:30 this morning...It's been in the 100's  here so indoor walking is the only way to go. It was nice and quite and not much was happening at the mall yet so we had a good walk and got some errands done too..We checked out the movie theater while there and decided we'd go back and see a show a bit later..Of course it would be very busy by then but off we went and had a good time...

The movie we saw was called...The Butler...which was a very wonderful movie depicting the history of social injustice and civil rights in American from the plantation days up until the present time..This movie was very moving and a true historical depiction. There were parts that bought me to tears. This is a Real must see movie if  anyone is interested..This movie really makes you think about your lives past and present and being I grew up in the 50's and 60's in Southern California..I remember some parts of the movie history vividly..

It was a mad house when we left so I opted not to hang around for dinner. Friday nights near the first of the month are always that way at the malls..Anyway I was feeling so emotional after this movie that I was not up for all the noise and insanity of the mall anyway, but even so this did not ruin my time or the experience I had seeing this movie..
