Having a rough morning

Good Morning Cheeks, Blue Cloud here. I think since we are on the same number of days quit we may be close to feeling the same cravings. I was expecting to start HECK week with a smile and found it was as hard as starting HELL week. Now that nicotine is no longer stimulating the dopamine levels in your brain, your neuro-transmitters are frantically trying to restablish different pathways. Crying increases the body's production of serotonin, another neuro-transmitter. Serotonin is also one of the body's natural "feel good" drugs like dopamine. I'm no neuro-pyschiatrist, but it seems to me that the crying bouts could very well be your body's way of trying to establish new pathways for your neuro-transmitters and coping with the loss of the excess dopamine. In any case, crying IS cathartic and a good way to release a lot of anxiety and tension. Cry about it. be grippy, but don't smoke. Talk To Me

This morning when I got up with cravings I got on this site for support. I posted to Cheeks because our quit date is the same and she sounded like she was having a ruff time, I posted to Bear because he seemed inpatient and with 118 quit days (I hope I remembered the right amount) I knew he had some expierence about a quit. Those post got me through the morning and I was in a pretty good mood. When I got that after lunch craving I got back on and was really suprised at how this conversation had evolved. Felt like I'd been in the middle of a family argument. Bear to you I give a big Bear ((((HUG)))). Your getting me through the day. And Cheeks, I hope your day is going better!! Listen hear you lot!

Phil your stats are very impresive to me with only 8 days. You give me hope that I will succeed. When I saw you had smoked 50 years and been quit 11 months my curosity peaked. What kind of health problems do you have (if any) from smoking that long. I smoked for 47 years. I can already tell a difference in how I breath and the rate of my heart beat when I lay down. Can I really expect to physically feel better after a few months? I already mentally feel better just knowing I am being stronger than my addiction for today. Cravings vs Defeat

Just finishing my 9th day smober. It is unrealistic to think that I should not have cravings. I wish they would just go away. I am telling myself that smoking is not an option because I don't think the feelings I get with a craving are as bad as the feeling I had as an addict.I don't want to smoke and I'm not going to be a smoker. I want to be me. I want to feel free. You may see this kind of post from me often, this is how I am re-enforcing my quit.N.O.P.E. I've made it one more day.I was just as miserable before the quit as I am now. Time is in my favor. Yet another reason I love these boards

Hey girl, you are doing good. Don't let someone else bring you down. I had a relative tell me he would quit when "they thorugh dirt in my face, and it probably wont be that long" That type of talk is stupid.Taking care of yourself is something I am learning late in life. I've always taken care of others. No matter what I am putting me first with my quit. It is by me, for me and about me. Yours is too> My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: $36.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 36 Seconds: 10

Got my Reward Today

I got my nails done and my toes done and I feel good. I spent all the money I have saved on cigs on me. I didn't cough one time while doing it. It has not been easy and yes there are times when the addiction trys to tell me just one wouldn't hurt but I am not going to listen to something that has been robbing me of so much. I smell good. I don't mind someone getting close to me. In fact it makes me want to get close. Today don't seem like such an unlucky day to me.
