My quit smoking adventure begins in 1 hour..... I'M READY!!!!!!!

In just less than an hour, I will begin my adventure to living a cigarette free life! And BOY am I ready to get it on! This is my 8th quit, With each setback, I learned something new that I hadn't done before. Only after coming here to the Stop Smoking Center did I realize what was tripping me up. Lack of preparation! I will tell you that there is a mental reorganization that went on as I changed things in my environment that are directed toward the success I so desire. Timing is also important. I am a stress smoker. More stress, more cigarettes. I have been working for the past three weeks to clean my bedroom. Yes, I used to smoke in my bedroom. Actually in my bathroom but, the smoke was free to billow out into the sleeping area...thus permeating my entire space, and making everything stink. I began cleaning at the ceiling and worked my way to the floor. All clothes have been rewashed, drawers emptied, wiped out and filled with clean clothes. And finally, the carpet was scrubbed. As I walk from my bedroom to the living area of my home, the difference in the smell of the two rooms is DRASTIC! And I'm THRILLED!! I have also set the scene tomorrow to make it as easy as possible by creating a number of distractions... To start, lots of errands, beginning early in the morning. Immediately upon arriving home again around noon, I will be busy packing my car in preparation for going on a two week vacation where I will be with my new, non smoking boyfriend....who also happens to be a retired Fireman/Paramedic and is more than happy to be my full support system during our vacation! Then, while I'm off kicking my feet up and relaxing, my three son's will be going through the house; cleaning it from end to end. They are smokers and have agreed to take their habit outside from starting tomorrow, and continuing all the while I'm gone to allow the house to air out as much as possible. All ashtrays will have been removed from the common areas of the house, as well as any cigarettes. By the time I get back, I will have been smoke free for two weeks...I know I can take it from there WITH YA'LLs help. When I drive back from my vacation, I will have only one thing on my mind. To get home, log on, and start talking to the members here...because I also

THE ROPE CHAIN

Yep...I like the new LAST name! Just curious, this apparently is rather common for folks to form smaller groups from the whole. Anyone know the name of the oldest group and are there any members still participating with the other group members? Post Your Stats-No Matter What

Anyone who is new to this Forum should seriously consider posting their stats. When I first logged on here I looked around and saw a huge assortment of days quit in the members posts. I am continually in awe of some folks and how they have hung in here and kept helping the new folk. What was that movie? Pay it forward? Yeah and how cool is it that there are folks who live that credo! Seeing those stats from each members posts REALLY does help! THE ROPE CHAIN

I find as each hour, each day passes by, I log on more and more frequently to read the various posts and get the immediate distraction I need to stop a craving. I walk around shocked that I am on day 20 already!!! It doesn't seem possible that 20 days have passed. Since I've been back, I find I depend on all the members here to carry me through till the next spell...and they do it so well. Today I'm getting some pretty significant cravings. I hate them.
