I Made A Promise So Here I Am...Help Please!!

Redrosie, you are my pillar, man! I know how you feel, though - I'm in day 46 and have had some horrific out of the blue cravings. I think the main thing that has helped me is that I think "do I like smoking better than not smoking?" Right now, to throw away this effort, and to loose all the accomplishment, along with going back to the addiction, smell, taste, slavery - Well... It makes me stop and think. Even with the cravings, in between them I have flashes of such utter glee and relief every now and then, like a huge weight is being lifted off my shoulders. I'm sure you do, too. Focus on that. You are worth it! Thank you so much for all your inspiring words on this forum - I guess you can see how important you are to all of us!! :) (wish I had some cool graphics for ya!) I am sorry to report ...

Please come back when you can, and I am so sorry for what you're having to go through. When you're ready, you can remember how good it felt to go for 42 days without nicotine, and that will help. Good luck, Navychief- My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 759 Amount Saved: $200 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 12 Mins: 33 Seconds: 50

please, no tough love right now!!!

BFS, I don't know what to say, but look at 160 days. Thats 3840 hours, 230,400 minutes, 13,824,000 seconds. Wow - what an accomplishment! For 30 seconds of --- what? Pleasure? I doubt it! No tough love, just regular love and admiration for what you've already accomplished!! Just think about that for right this minute, and hold on to it. You have so very much to be proud of!!

Hey Babs- You should be so proud for your determination! I am very interested in hearing about how the Laser treatment goes for you. I did one session with a hypnotist, because I knew going into this my subconscious would be the problem once I got past the physical addiction. It seems to have helped me. My motivation to quit this time is many things, but mostly my dear sweet brother. He, too, is disabled, 55 years old, and has few friends. I think he could definately relate to you when you say once you couldn't go anywhere b/c of your mobility, you don't seem to have as many friends. He does have a handful of very loyal ones that have stuck by him no matter what. Anyway, since he is mostly homebound, cigarettes became his best friend. I'd say he was up to two-three packs a day, and it was getting so that I thought my sister and I should be preparing for his illnesses - whatever came first. It was obvious that a smoking related illness would be his fate. Sure enough, this past Jan., he was diagnosed with emphysema after a nasty bout with bronchitis. His dr. was unyielding - stop smoking now or you will be dead soon, and furthermore, I won't see you as a patient unless you stop. Well, he did - and so did his sisters and younger brother. It's been hard for him, but he is now almost 4 months smoke free! I am here for you, I do relate to the special circumstances you must go through. I can say I know my brother has had a much harder time than anyone not disabled would have had. After all, I can always go for a walk when I have an urge! But he can't! But you can do this!!! You need to stick close to this site for a while. It will help more than you know. There are many very compassionate people here, and they are very giving! Please know you've come to the right place!! Bless you! Still need support

Thank you for sharing your experience! I heard alot in there that sounded familiar, and it's good to know this can be done, and I can get to 6 months! I find that I too have a bad day now and then, and I think you're right, it seems to be about once a week. That really helps put it in the proper prospective for me. Keep up the good work!
