Welcome busybee, you have 2 days and that is a milestone. I too quit cold turkey. It's hard no matter what you chose to do to help but you are over the hump of the worse of it. They say the first 3 days are the worse. For me I just slept a lot to help me get through it. Then while awake I did everything I could to stay busy and to go to places that I could not smoke like the mall, etc. Another thing I have done is sunflower seeds, they kept my hands and mouth busy. Stay close to SSC and read and post there are many here with help. So much great help will come your way.
CONGRAT'S ON YOUR QUIT

Thank you Sheila for your response of encouragement. I just found this sight today and I wish I had had it from the begining of my stop date. I've quit cold turkey and there has been much I've gone through and wish I had had someone to talk things over with and known the things that my body was going through and why.

Hi I'm Laurie
I have quit over a month ago and have had bad days, (many) and good days (few). But I'm holding. I just know that I don't ever want to go through this again. I've quit twice before in the last 30 years of smoking and I wish i had stayed with it then. I relized this time that it has been much harder then it was the other two times. And also realizing that if I go back I'll not have it in me to go through what I have the last month. I have had a lot of anger and even though many share their support of me, they would rather talk to me when I'm through the hard part.
I feel like I have lost my best friend and I'm greiving terrible for them. I have gone through much in my life as others have I'm sure, but the one thing I could always count on was my cigarette's to be there for me no matter what. :eg:
Today I was out and a lady sat by me that smelled like an ashtray and all I could think was thank God that wasn't me anymore.

tls, i know that I too went through this, I kept eating banana's and little snacks to keep my blood sugar up, plus fast brisk walks. So walk around the office a few times really fast and take some really deep breaths. See if this won't help.

Hi Charlie, You hang in there girl. I too have 37 days today and I know of what you speak. Stay close to SSC, I know that just getting a response from others will help you get through. All I was doing was crying and raging also until two days ago when someone told me to turn on that demon and give it no control. So now when I feel that demon trying for a strong hold I turn and tell myself how proud I am of me, how great I smell and look, how wonderful it is to be 37 days free of those terrible killing sticks that once I thought was my friend. How proud I am that I chose to quit, no one else forced me, it was my chose, my decision and I did it, and I'm doing it one day at a time, sometimes one minute at a time but we are doing it.
You hang in there and know that you have friends and a support group that is there for you in what ever way you need us to be.
Good Luck ^I^ LG
