Wonderful news Silver. I know you are happy to have the good numbers. I just got back from doc about 30 minutes ago. Have a case of bronchitis so I'm on antibiotics and cough medicine with codeine. I"ll be in happy land soon. They also switched my nitro to a kind I have to take every evening wheher I have pain or not. Never heard of that. Oh yea my cholesterol has gone down. Thats good news. I'll be seeing you on the beach very soon. Save me a spot.

Hi Patches
Everything you said is true. I had known for a long time that I was a slave to my addiction. It is a very hard thing to quit, but I know that it will be well worth it. Keep in touch and thanks for the post. It's always good to see those who have quit and stayed there.

Hi Bonbons
Good to meet you and congrats on your decision. Yes, it is hard at first, but I can promise you it will get better. So much of this quit has to do with your mind and how you see yourself. Try not to think of what you are missing and instead think of what you are gaining. I had smoked for 35 yrs. and was up to 2 packs a day. I never before had tried to quit, because I just knew I would fail. I had no doubt that I was addicted to nicotine and the thought of trying to quit scared me to death. Finally on Oct. 16 I was down to just a few cigs and was going to need to go out and buy another carton. For whatever reason, I just decided at that moment that I was through with smoking. Now this is coming from someone who was an avid smoker and had never even thought of quitting. I kept telling myself that I would just quit for one day. Well one day has turned into 95 and I can tell you now that I am so proud of what I've done. The folks here are great and will support you in your quit. Stay close to the site and post often. You can do this. Keep your quit.

You are the only one who can decide about using the patch. You have gone 19 days without nicotine so I'm not sure how that will be going back on it, even with the patch. Maybe someone else here has done this and can advise you better. You are doing a great job. You should be proud. Keep your quit.

Hi Pixie
Good to see you here. You are doing a great thing for yourself and you should be proud. I'm not sure about the pain issue but I can tell you that a lot of folks here will be answering you. I like what you said about smart not meaning anything when you're trying to quit smoking. How true is that. What I can tell you Pixie is that you can take back your life and get out of the endless cycle of pain/smoke you are in. Use all the tools offered here in preparation of your quit. Post often and holler when you need help.

First of all you must remember that this is an addiction and has nothing to do with how much you love your child or husband. We all here have to battle this and it's not easy. I too smoked while pregnant and felt terrible doing it, but just couldn't completely quit. That was many yrs. ago and I kept right on smoking until a few months ago. I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to have quit smoking. I never thought I could do this. I never take my quit for granted and am so grateful for all the support I've been given here. You can do this. Keep your quit.
