Thank you for your support and suggestions.  I am going to work on the list of positive things and continue to challenge the negative ones.  I already see just thinking about it that there are many more positives than negatives. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.    My mantra is going to be "I am OK, I can do this"

I want to thank you for your support and suggestions.  I really like your positive way of thinking and rewarding yourself for each step you make towards a goal. I am going to start doing this from now on. You are right I am going to look forward to telling myself how great I am doing.  I think making it through this Exposure will be a major Achievement for me and will Open Up so many new windows in my world.

I justed wanted to update everyone on how my exposure trip to the play went.  I had a wonderful time and I am feeling great about all the accomplishments I am making.  Its was fantastic not having to carry that ball and chain of anxiety and despair around with me. We took pictures and I swear I looked 10 years younger all a glow and with sparkle in my eyes.  I carried the list of 10 question in my mind most of the day and when every I was anxious I just brought up the list in my mind and questioned each negative and anxious thought in my mind.  It is an invaluable tool and comforting to know you always have it with you. Of course all the support and encouragement I have received from each and everyone of you here on this site has been very instrumental in me making it this far and of course my partner and I want to thank all of you for your help and encouraging words.    I have to tell you I am very excited about my future and already thinking about what I am going do next.

Ashley and everyone else:                                                                                                                                                  The first thing on my list is doing some exposure work to get my self ready for jury duty thats coming up on March 3. I am making a list of the steps that I need to go through to get there that day.  Get up get dressed,  leave the house early enough so I will not be late, drive to the court house, go through the metal detectors,  go into the building, see the jury lounge etc.  I plan on making a trial run to the court house before March 3 hoping that it will alleviate some of my anxiety about the whole thing. My partner has done jury duty before so we have talked about some of the questions I will be asked during the jury selection process.  He will be driving me their and picking me up.  He is also going to go with me on my trial run. This is not going to be a fun one but after it is all said and done I know I will be much stronger for it. I will differently be using the panic center programs 10 question list that day and I have already begun to challenge my negative and anxious thoughts.  Before starting this program I would have been obsessing about the jury duty for the last to 2 weeks and would have not been able to enjoy or think about anything else.  I have been able to focus on doing other exposure work like leaving the house to go swimming, I went on some walks and was able to go to a play for the first time in my life.  
The next thing I have planned after this is maybe a trip in the late spring to the national parks in Utah and maybe go for a ride in a helicopter which is one of my triggers.  In the mean time I need to work on getting dressed every day and trying to leave my house at least 3 days a week so that I can continue to move forward with my life.  I want to let everyone that this program really works as long as you keep your eye on the ball and never give up.  I am 55 have ptsd and been agoraphobic for many years now hardly leaving my house for weeks at a time and I am living proof that you can get better.

Staying Home Alone...help

Welcome to the support group.  You have been able to make it for 10 minutes now which is progress.  I know that getting well can seem like a slow process but in time it will get better.  I find that coming on line to the support group and reading posts, answering posts and posting helps me deal with the anxiety and helps me understand my feelings better.  The 10 question list under toolbox has helped me a great deal in being able to challenge my anxious and negative thoughts. I am also a spiritual person and believing that I am never really alone has helped me a lot when I felt panicky, scared and alone in my life. I have some favorite affirmations that I posted on line that have helped me also. What sunny said about deep breathing and letting yourself calm down is very helpful also.  I want to encourage you to work on the program every day come here and read posts and post if you want.  You are not alone in this.  There is usually one of us hear reading posts, and their always seems to be a Educator on duty.   We are hear we care and we are listening.    Keep posting.

You are right this thread is hard to pull off with just 2 or 3 people posting to it, not to mention a support group with just 2 or 3 people in it.    Hopefully some more people will joint our support here on line.  I guess we will  just have to wait and see what happens.
