Anxiety attack at restaurant

Hi Wrestler,

I'm glad to hear that you are having a better day today.

You mentioned that concentrating on your work rather on what you were feeling (the daze, and the depersonalization, the anxiety) helped you as it did not bring on a panic attack. I think you are onto something here.

I'm wondering if you choose to ignore these feelings if you in turn will prevent a panic attack from happening. What are some other things you can focus on?

Members, please share your thoughts.

Newbie

Texan, glad everything went well!

Now at least you have some peace of mind.

What do you plan on doing, now that you have this knowledge next time you start feeling anxious?

n00b ..

Hello and welcome to our support group!

You mentioned that you are not quite a group person, and like to be more solitary, well that's ok too. Just remember that if you ever feel like reaching out or want to vent, someone will be here to lend an ear. You have obviously gone through a lot of difficult things, have you sought any professional help to deal with these issues?

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests which can prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. They can be used as a great conversation starter.

Also take the time to look through the program, it has a lot of useful information and you can work through it on your own.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask any of us, we are here to support and help each other out!

Anxiety attack at restaurant

Hi Wrestler,

Loosing a loved family pet can be very hard. Pets are a part of your family and it is really sad to see them go because we do get so attached to them.

I'm thinking that maybe this incident did play a role on this episode. Since you are making the connection in your mind, you are probably right. Maybe take it easy for a few days, you mentioned that the weekends are your best therapy, take a day off work if you can, or just spend some time in the evenings doing things that you enjoy and find relaxing.

Let us know how you are doing!

More about anxiety

Anxiety disorders are very prevalent in our society, about 23% of the population will experience some form of increased anxiety and worry that impairs their normal functioning at some point in their lifespan. Throughout the course of the next few weeks we will take a look at various forms of anxiety; causes, characteristics and treatment. As usual please feel free to ask any questions, share your experiences or comment.

Generalized anxiety disorder is typically associated with excessive and chronic worrying that lasts for a period of at least six months. The anxiety is ‘free-floating’ and can not be attributed to on any single source. Those who experience generalized anxiety disorder are likely to worry about very minor things and life in general.

Commons symptoms are:

- High pulse and respiration rates
- Chronic diarrhea
- A need to urinate frequently
- Chronic digestive problems
- Trouble sleeping
- Easily irritated
- Spend a lot of time worrying about the future

And the goal of the week goes to...

This week's goal of the week goes to Trixie. Their goals are to:

1. Exercise at least 5 times a week, including going to use that gym membership I'm paying for, so that I will work off this excess energy and enjoy good health.
 2. I would like to shop again freely and just have a great time with no limitations. Life is so much more fun when I can live it fully.
 3. I want to be able to travel without worry. I can do long road trips, but I want to go to Belgium to meet my penpal again and shop in Paris! I just want to do all these things without giving them a thought. I'd like to go to Hawaii someday, too! :)

Members, have you been setting goals for yourselves?

Myth or Fact?

Hello Davit,

I just checked out some of your wood work and it all looks amazing! I'm very impressed. I took woodworking way back in grade 8 for a semester, and I couldn't even make a little jewlery box with straight edges!

It's fine to share the link to these pictures since you are not advertising or selling anything else.

Back again.

Hello Anerol and welcome back to the site!

It seems that you have gone through a lot (especially with the divorce), I admire you for coming back on here and reaching out for help. There is always someone on here who will lend a listening ear.

I encourage you to look through the program again and maybe try doing the supportive tests again. See if any new information comes up that you can share with your doctor. Also take a look through the Panic Program, set some goals for yourself and work at a pace that is comfortable for you. You mentioned that you find it hard to keep up with the site. Setting reachable goals may help you stay motivated.

Come back often and let us know how you are doing.

Back again.

Hello Sunny and welcome back once again!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friends. This must be a very difficult time for you, so make sure you take the time to grieve. It's normal to feel the way you are feeling, and crying can be a good way to let those feelings out.

And good for you for continuing to take care of yourself and go on walks even if it's just every couple of days. It's important to keep moving forward even when it seems hard.  Remember, you can always come back here and vent if you need to, there is always someone ready to listen.
