Weekend Prep

Boxing Day!!

Happy Boxing Day! With Christmas behind us, now is a great time to start focusing on the New Year. Instead of spending all of your time in the mall shopping, why not take some time out to enjoy with your family and friends and create a plan to make the coming year a success.

Rough Time

Hi Lisa,

I'm sorry that you are having a hard time being away from your ex's children. It must be difficult to be apart from them after taking care of them for so long. You've made some decisions to better yourself that caused you to be away from these children and you must really miss them. Remember that the kids miss you too and are happy when they run into you. Cherish the moments you've had together. Work through the sessions, post here often, phone a friend and do what you need to get through this rough time.

Making New Years Resolutions

Congratulations on all of the hard work that you’ve done this year to get to where you are! Keep on working with the program and the support group and updated us on your progress.

The New Year symbolizes a fresh start and is the perfect time to make some new goals and resolutions to make this year as big or bigger of a success than the last one.  Take some time to set realistic resolutions and make some smaller milestones to help you get there.

Don’t forget to share your resolutions with us!

shortness of breath

Hi Davit,

Thanks for inquiring about anxiety during colds and flus and during fatigue. Regarding specific nutrition, certain foods will effect people differently. If you suspect that certain foods are affecting your anxiety, I would suggest seeking consult from your doctor.

Members, what have your experiences been with pneumonia, colds and anxiety?

shortness of breath

Hey Davit,

I'm sorry that I confused the information you are seeking. There often can be correlations between certain conditions and anxiety. Can you explain again what you were looking for? I am definitely interested in why you are seeking this information and I apologize if I didn't appear to be! We are always here to support and provide with the feedback we can.

For others, the beginning of a new week can present a world of challenges and triggers that can make it difficult to stick to our goals. What challenges will you face this week? How are you preparing to meet those challenges?

Below are ten questions you may find helpful in challenging your anxious thoughts:

The following ten questions will help you to challenge any anxious thoughts. When you have an anxious thought, answer some of these 10 questions:

1. Is it "true"?

4. What's the evidence for it being true?
5. What’s the evidence against it being true?
6. Has it ever happened before?

Tracking Negative Thoughts

In your quest to track your negative thoughts, you may have had trouble challenging them and you may now be wondering how to challenge them.
The following 10 questions will help you to challenge any negative thought. When you have a negative thought, try to answer these 10 questions:
1.       What’s the evidence that the thought is true?
2.       What’s the evidence that the thought is not true?
3.       What is the worst possible thing that could happen and how would you cope if it did happen?
4.       What’s the best possible thing that could happen?
5.       What would most likely happen and how would you cope if that happened?
6.       What’s another way of thinking about this situation? What else could be going on?
7.       What would you tell a friend of yours if they were in this situation and had the same negative thought?
8.       What’s the effect of believing the negative thought?
9.       What would happen if you didn’t believe the negative thought?
10.   What are some alternative thoughts in this situation?
Today we encourage you to look at your tracking results and share what patterns you have identified. How has tracking your negative thoughts helped you? How will you incorporate this into your life?

Ativan withdrawal and being free of it

Hi ljg4ljg4,

Regarding the side effects of your medication and deciding to come off of it, it is best to consult with your doctor or pharmacist. As Davit said, if you do a search through the old posts you will likely find discussions on medications and other members experiences. Check those out and check in soon.
