Hi folks...New here...I'm thisclose to quitting...

Hi there minx. I am also taking Chantix. I took it for a week then quit. I am doing well, been quit for 3 weeks now. Chantix is a great medication. You still have to want to quit and do the work, but it sure helps with the withdrawls. Be sure to have a plan in place to deal with triggers and cravings. Take the days before your quit and read as much as possible so you can know what to expect. I read a lot before my quit and the advise that others gave has really helped me. Also work through the program on the left hand side of your screen. It really helped me. Read lots, post lots.. There are some great people here who give wonderful support, you have found the right place! The Chantix makes it a lot easier, but be prepared. I am a Chantix patient

lolo... It is ironic.. You said that you had gone to the doctor for bronchitis and he gave you asthma medcine, I went to the doctor and he said it was a really bad respiratory infection. He didn't say it was broncitis.. but I have had it before and pretty sure that is what I was dealing with. I ended up in the ER with an asthma attack. I have never in my life had an asthma attack... he gave me an inhaler and that was the last straw. I thought to myself.. first an inhaler, then portable oxygen.. I decided then that I had to quit and needed help... That is when I talked to the pulmonary doctor at work and he prescribed Chantix for me... Hoppy... Congrats on your decision to quit smoking!!! I see that you have an April quit date. You might want to check out the thread "April quitters", it is found under "Forum for New Users and General Discussion".
