You'll find a lot of great information and supportive memebers willing and able to lend a helping hand.  Please make yourself familiar with the program and get started when ready.  Be sure to stop in often and ask as many questions as you would like.   All the best,     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Fear of Listeriosis....

April, if watching the news causes you much anxiety, would it be a good idea to limit your news time?   It's important to know what's going on in the world, but if the repetitiveness is getting to you, what other options do you have?     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Medication...

Diva,   Great to hear that you'll be talking to your Doc's about this. In regards to taking perscription meds, it's entirely up to you. What you feel comfortable with, and what makes you feel best. You can do more reseach, talk to people about alternative methods?   Members, what's your opinion?     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Did you know?

Members,
As you fall in love with yourself, you naturally get healthier. All the do’s and don’ts of health education can only build a house of straw unless love is the foundation. When you see love in operation in a relationship, you see trust, acceptance of the uniqueness of each person, understanding of differences, and forgiveness of failing.   Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Divorce

Miki,   Great that you've made a doc's apt. In the mean time get plenty of rest and don't over work yourself. Your health is number 1.     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Negative Core Beliefs

Members,
In general, there are three types of negative core beliefs:

  • Negative Core Beliefs about Yourself
  • Negative Core Beliefs about the World and Others
  • Negative Core Beliefs about the Future

All negative core beliefs can cause problems. Theories also suggest that certain dispositions and certain life events will affect people differently. There are two categories:

  • Sociotropic: concerned about relationships, concerned of the possibility of disapproval, sense of self- worth is based on acceptance & love from others, wants to maintain close relationships & worries about being unlovable.
  • Autonomous: have a high need to be independent and reach goals outside the relationship, sense of self worth is based on productivity, achievement and control, overly concerned with the possibility of failure & worried about being incompetent or unable.

According to theories such as by Beck, the matching between dispositions and life events can make the difference between could impact the severity of impact the life event will have on the individual.

For instance, a sociotropic is more likely to be negatively affected by a break-up whereas an autonomous by being fired from his/her job.

Which category do you fall into?

Finally going back to work

DB,   If you feel like you are ready to go to work, then you are doing the right thing. Don't rush into anything and take things slow. Like Genejockey has told you, a positive attitude can make a world of difference. Your coworkers may be curious and this is normal. If you feel comfortable tell them what you'd like but don't feel as though you have to.   We're here to help you along the way, let us know how your first day/week goes.     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator
