OBSESSION

Hi Sarah, If you continue to cough up the "black stuff" please go and see your doctor. Even though it may be from the candles, it is important to be safe when it comes to your health. While you are at your doctors ask him/her about the feelings you are having. Your doctor knows your history and the two of you can get everything out in the open. Please continue to discuss your thoughts and concerns here in our support group. It is always good to talk about your feelings and hopefully you can get some of your questions answered. Take care Sarah and we will be looking forward to your next post :) Melanie

Chaos at the hospital!!

Sarah, We always believe that the best therapy is to talk :). Most of us tend to keep our thoughts and a concern bottled up inside and then that is when problems begin. It is great to hear that everything is fine! I am sure that the techs and the doctor did not even think that there was a problem with you and your anxiety. I would like to know one person who does not get a bit anxious when it comes to diagnostic tests. Thank you so much for "venting". It is always nice to hear from you and see that you are able to express you feelings so comfortably here on the site. Sarah, please feel free to hop back on the site when you need to chat or vent. We are always here for you 24/7! Take care, Melanie

success??

It is a success Sarah! We have to take baby steps to eventually reach our goal :). Think of it this way; you take a huge leap into something you are not sure of and it really was to soon to get there. How do you feel? Like you did not succeed! By taking these tiny steps you are preparing yourself in a positive direction. You are doing it Sarah!! Take these tiny steps and we will always be here if help is needed :). Please continue to post with us. This was a great day today! Cheers, Melanie

scary heartbeats

Lucy, This is a good thing! You understood that an attack was coming on and you handled the situation properly. Please do not feel embarrased! We all have been in your shoes! Next time you go for a walk maybe have someone go with you or continue to bring your cell phone. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and please continue to post. Take care, Melanie

Welcome Lynn!

From Lynn: Hey there. Just dropping in to say hello and introduce myself. I'm a 28 year old professional who has finally acknowledged that I need outside help in dealing with my anxieties. I was diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder when I was in my late teens and have been suffering for over a decade. Currently my biggest problems are my fear of public gatherings and the ridiculously high expectations I put on myself AND the way I push my partner away physically because I think I'm undeserving of his affection (plus I don't like him getting too close to me because I'm afraid he'll notice my flaws). I'm at the point where when he tries to hug me I freak out and feel extremely clausterphobic...it's an aweful feeling and I'm afraid I'm going to drive him away. He's very kind and understanding but I still worry which seems to only compound my anxiety! I just need someone to tell me how to start the process of changing these old habits so I can relax and start liking myself again. I'm not even sure if this is the right forum for my situation, but I figured I better start somewhere! Any advice on where and how to start would be greatly appreciated!!
