Trying this again for the final time

DJ

So glad you have decided to give this another go.  It really is the right place to be.

I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to quit.  What I do know, is that during my relapses, the second thought after I light that first cigaratte is "now I have to quit again".  I am just so tired of quitting.  I just want to be done with it.

It is the best thing I could have ever done.  I am happier, less angry and so very proud of myself.
Is it hard?  Sometimes, like now - but I just keep my head down and say NOPE.  I really don't want a cigaratte, I just remember a lot.  They are just thoughts and they leave.

Stay here - read alot and post if you need help.  There is a lot of really great people here.  In 109 days we will meet on the beach, in fact...I'll even swim out to the cruise ship to meet you.  OK?

I'm back with 100 days under my belt

Thanks everyone for your wishes and welcomes.

I have been on this journey to be smoke free for over 4 years now.  I have been a member of this site for that long and have publicly quit countless number of times.  But always, when I come back, I am amazed that there is an outpouring of support for my efforts and from the same people time and again, and for that I am ever grateful and thankful.  If it wasn't for those people, I wouldn't be here today - quit and wanting to stay that way.

These people have taught me quite a lot, but the most important thing I remember is to NEVER STOP TRYING, and I haven't.

If you are a newbie reading this, you will never be sorry that you joined.

New here, attempt to quit smoking again....day 3

Hi Kim

Welcome to the SSC.  You have made a very wise decision.  Is it scary - doesn't have to be.  Kim, can you quit for 5 minutes?  Well of course you can.  Can you quit for another 5 minutes?  That is how everyone quits smoking - 5 minutes at a time.  The forever will take care of itself.  With more and more days under your belt, you will begin to see that forever is possible.  Read, read and read some more.  There is a wealth of information and hope that you will gain from the people who have tread before you. You have 2 days under your belt and that is something to be proud of - that is a few 5 minutes, isn't it?
Welcome to a life of freedom.
