Do we help you with your quit?

Absolutely you help. I am 3 days away from quit day and it is so comforting to know that others have gone before me and are still "Quit". I love to look at your quit meters and see how many days you have quit and how much money you have saved and how much time you have added back to your life. That gives me encouragement that I can do it to. When I hear your struggles then I know what is ahead and how you got through it. So please keep responding and helping those of us who are new to the quit club. Thanks for quitting so we know we can do it too. Only 3 days till Quit Day and Thanks

You all are so wonderful. Thank you for all you said on my last post. I really think I am ready. I can't wait till I don't feel congested or my throat scratchy. I look forward to having more energy to walk stairs! All is positive. I am so tired of giving my money to Phillip Morris! I am planning to take the money I would have spent daily and put it in a fun account for the first few months so I can reward myself often. I plan on going for a massage first with the money, pedicure, nails you know the pamper stuff. Then I plan to save the rest for a nice vacation next June for my anniversay, 20 years! The only thing I dread is the withdrawls on the 3rd and 5th day. I still remember how I felt the last time I tried to quit and it was not pleasant. Of course I was doing it cold turkey and this time with patches and with all of you! People that have never smoked have no idea what we are going through and to them it just looks ridiculous for it to be so hard. Intellectually it even seems that way to me, but usually when I quit my mind just gets focused on cigarettes and I start justifying that it is not that bad, and why should I give up something I really love to do and that is where you come in, to remind me that I am quitting for great reasons and that I am not being deprived. Ok all, let's go forward, QUIT, and be so proud of ourselves for recognizing that this habit is not a good thing and is stealing precious time from our lives. Thanks again for your support and I am here for you too! My Quit Day is One Week Away

One week from today I STOP SMOKING!! I have been working with the website tools for a couple of weeks to prepare. I really need the emotional help from you. What I like about this site is everyone seems so positive and upbeat and very encouraging to each other. The hardest part for me so far has been just lighting a cig before I know what I am doing. The daily log has helped me to realize when I crave them the most. Sometimes I just turn around a put it out after a puff or two. A friend of mine who is going on the trip with me next week says I am making a mistake trying to quit while at a conference. What do you think? I usually don't smoke while I am at a conference for fear someone will know and only sneak around and smoke a couple a day anyway. That is why I chose that date because I will be gone for 4 days. She did put that doubt in my head though. I just really want to quit and have been saying that was the day even long before I found this site. I know I am rambling I am just kinda scared that I won't be successful unless I have some real support from those who understand. So I am anxious to hear your responses. Thanks in advance. CDS

Tired Low and Near Bottom

Hi Riverdale Man: I am one week away from my quit day and reading all of your posts trying to get mentally prepared. I know how you feel from previous quits and want to tell you it is not worth it to give in, even once! Sounds to me that everyone that is doing better on there cravings gets beyond 6 months or even a year. You just have to hang on and realize you are so brave and so smart to even try. Like another post said keep taking it a day at a time. Relax, reward yourself and know that it is normal for you to feel this way. I just want you to be happy about your decision and know that your quitting has even helped me, someone you don't even know, to get ready to join you as a non-smoker. Thanks for being honest so someone like me won't feel like a failure when I get where you are. It is a hooray for you to talk it out and keep at it, the fight that is. Just don't give in, because you will feel really down then, I know been there done that. So I applaud you for your journey and will cheer you on from afar. CDS

Day 10! Yea!

Ok all I have made it to day 10! It really has not been too bad. I did it while on a 9 day business trip and now back at home. So far so good. Can't say I don't think about it ever but I have not felt like going for one so far. Thanks to all for your encouragement. As far as a reward, still thinking about it. Just enjoying watching the dollars add up on my quit meter. Good luck to all and just keep on with the breathing excercises!

Hello

Just started with the program tonight. So ready to quit and need lots of encouragement. I have tried many times to end up smoking more than ever. I want to feel better and have more energy and I know smoking is hurting me. I just grab and light before I even know what I am doing. Tomorrow I plan to delay my first cigarette by 1 hour from waking then stay away from the computer since that is my weak time with smoking. Quit day is July 19th. Any help appreciated.

Hello

Thanks so much everyone for your kind words of encouragement. Stormy you can do it! This is just what I was looking for. I did not want to have to go to meetings, been there done that, worked for awhile then the group was over. I just can't wait till my quit day so I can get this on the road. I chose a time when I will be in conferences all day and can't smoke anyway and I will be away from home, busy, busy. Today I have gone hours between cigarettes today which is my way to plan the big quit. Can't wait until I am no longer a slave to those nasty things. That's the way I feel, like they just control me and I am not a person that likes to be controlled. In fact I really am a take charge get a lot done person so why I ever allowed myself to become so attached to cigs I will never know. So anyway, I just want to be free from them so I can go without looking for a lighter, leaving work to drive around to smoke so no one will see me then spray gobs of vanilla spray all over me, including my hair. It is just crazy. I don't like the smell now and what makes me think you can't smell it on ME! So mentally I am there, I just have to actually get it done. So I know how you all feel and I am so proud of all of you who have already faced your quit day and are on the road to independence and look at all the Money your saving and time your adding to your life!!! You are my heros for actually quitting and helping others like me to get to that day too. Thank YOU! CD
