I Made A Promise So Here I Am...Help Please!!

Hi Redrosie, Its been a few days since I have been here and I must sayreading this post of yours was a big surprise to me. I thought of all people you were the one I knew would make it. You have given many people here great advice and support. You cant give in to this evil POS called a cigarette! We quit on the same day and havent you noticed lately the great improvement in your breathing? I notice a little improvement the first week I quit, but I cant believe how easy it is for me to go up several flights of steps now ITS A GREAT FEELING TO BE ABLE TO BREATH!! And doesnt your house, your hair, your clothes, your car, your purse, your jacket all smell good now???? Cant you smell the nasty nicotine on other people as they walk by you? Doesnt your face look better with blood flowing smoothly though it? And lets not forget what your future will hold for you (if you give in) you are guaranteed to spend you last moments in life struggling for air. On a positive note you have held strong so far, just like the Redrosie we all know and love! Hang in there and please keep us posted. We need you here! P.S. Have you ever tried sucking on a tootsie roll sucker it keeps the cravings down, and keeps your mouth busy and the little white stick reminds the mind of a cigarette and it last about as long as smoking a cigarette does. It worked every time for me. And one more tip (then I will shut up)..cinnamon is suppose to curve the cravings. I have cinnamon scented candles in all the rooms and I also think that really helped! OKOKOK this is just my desperate attempt to keep you "clean". You're doing great! The man in ICU

Hi everyone, I came here almost on a daily bases. Sorry I dont post much, Im more of a listener than a talker. However, I just got the urge to share what I experienced in my line of work, hopefully to keep some of us motivated. I work in the medical field. Cardiology section. I see patients every day (in the technical support field) and I can tell you that 90% of them are there due to their smoking. I of all people should have known better. But I began smoking way before I got into the medical field. Poor excuse, I know. The day that my eyes were wide open was when I was called into the MICU (that is where the sickest of the sick end up). I was asked to see a patient for severe respiratory issues. I looked at his chart and I noticed that he was born on the same exact day that I was. Looking further into his history, I discovered that he was a smoker of 30 years (same as me) and now he has end stage lung cancer. His doctor came up to me and shook his head and said, Poor guy, he is dying. I looked at this patient and he looked so young to me. I imagined that he had a pretty wife and young kids. I said a little prayer and did what I came there to do. He was on my mind for weeks until finally I decided to quit. This man will never know that he was my motivation; he is no longer with us. If you could only see what the end result of smoking looks like, I am sure that you will be shocked. I see people what have smoked less than I did and they cant even relax because they are slowly suffocating and cant get comfortable in any position. They cant even talk a full sentence without trying to catch their breath. I am more aware now. It is so strange that while I was a smoker, my mind did not absorb these facts. Now that I am not a smoker, I see with different eyes what smoking does to people. I am reminded every day of why I should remain quit and no doubt that I will remain this way. By the way the man with lung cancer from date of diagnosis to the date of death was less than 90 days! I didn't write this to depress anyone and I hope I don't. A slave to the cigarette!

Hello everyone, I have been coming to this site for 21+ days. Lots of info here. I usually like to just read, I hardly ever post, but I want to now. I have been a smoker for 31 years! Never did I ever think that I would be able to quit. And the most amazing thing is that I quit cold turkey 21 days ago. I just got tired of being a slave to the cigarette. The first week was rough, but I would come here and this site helped me continue with my quit. Things are a lot better now, sure I get the urge, but it quickly passes. What I would really like to know from all of you quitters is aside from health reasons, why are you glad you quit. I will start by saying. I love getting the color back to my face I have a pink, healthy glow now! I love walking into my house and it smells clean and fresh! I love walking by the smokers huddled in the cold. (I use to be there) I can walk up a flight of stairs without getting short of breath. My mouth feels clean and fresh even in the morning. My little dog doesnt cough up a lung anymore. (I guess that was from my smoke) The money I save from cigarettes is being used for a club membership I just purchased! (And I still have money left over) I feel great about quitting and I am very proud of myself! Never again will I put another nasty, smelly, poisoned, life sucking cigarette in this body again! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 301 Amount Saved: $90 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 12 Seconds: 49

WOW! He smelled BAD!

Isn't it amazing? Tonight I went to the store and I swear, I could tell the smokers and the non-smokers that passed me in the isle. I was playing a game as I shopped .... He smokes, he doesn't, she doesn't, she does, oh boy, he really, really does, she doesn't, she does, they do, they don't. A few weeks ago I was standing in line and the guy in front of me absolutely reeked of the most retched tobacco odor ever - I came very close to losing it! If we could bottle that smell and sell it to people who want to quit we would be rich! hahahaha My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 343 Amount Saved: $99 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 13 Mins: 46 Seconds: 58
