Hi everyone. I am just checking in. Its been a while.
I have been smoke free almost 9 months and it still amazes me.
My secret to success is the one rule = N.O.P.E
Since my quit 8 friends and family members have attempted a quit. So far 2 were not able to stay quit but plan to try again. The other 6 of us are still quit. I am so very proud.
The best way to lead smokers into quitting is by quitting yourself. Telling them the wonderful things about quitting is nice but there is nothing you can say to make them quit. And, I have learned that almost all smokers want to quit, they just dont always share that info.
One last thing. Being a smoker means you are a slave of your addiction.
Yes, a slave.
Your addiction tells you when you will step outside and smoke, when you will stop what your doing and smoke. Your addiction tells you to make arrangements for the smoke break while scheduling things on your calendar. I was once a slave to this addiction.
Now I can just live like a normal person and not have to worry about scheduling time to smoke or being disrupted by my addiction...especially on a cold day...I dont have to stand out in the freezing cold to smoke.
If your thinking of quitting...just go for it...live by that one rule...later you will be so glad you did it.

not sure if this is the same but...
yes I craved for smoke to be in my mouth like the taste of it or something.
It is just another junkie thought but did come back to bug me once in a while for quite some time.
I would say "I just want that taste of smoke in my mouth."
Maybe this is the same as yours.

My 6 year old also quit something when I quit.
She was a thumb sucker. She got a blister on her thumb and the doc said she could not suck it for 7 days. Quite a few days passed and she asked how long it had been. I checked and it was 10 days. She said Since I made it 10 days and only needed to wait it 7 days I might as well quit sucking my thumb forever. She asked if we could count the days that she quits because she noticed me counting my days. Us counting days together was her motivator. We no longer count the days of her quitting sucking because the thumb sucking habit is pretty much gone forever now.
Before all this she wanted to quit when I quit but couldnt and used to say, How can I quit sucking my thumb when it is attached to my hand and is right with me all the time. I cant take it off my hand and put it somewhere away from me. She was refering to the fact that I could just not buy cigs or walk away from them and she couldn't and had to carry hers with her at all times.

Congrats to all the new quitters who have made 100!
Hi everyone, just thought I would pop in for a moment and say hello.
The beach looks wonderful and the food looks yummy.
I am still smoke free and loving it.
I couldn't have done it without SCC.

Thanks everyone. You are all so awesome! My next goal is to figure out how to loose some weight...hee hee
:)
I gained 10 pounds in the past year but that was enough to have to buy bigger clothes which I didn't enjoy doing last winter.
