Hello

Hi everyone. I am new to the group. Finally admitted to family, colleagues and gp that I
Have been getting severe panic attacks. I have just started taking citalopram 10 mg have taken it before but I am scared of taking it again. Also scared that the next few weeks will effect my relationship with husband who is just starting to feel so much better after a bout of anxiety himself. I don't want to drag him down with me. Any advice would be great.

Hello

Thanks both. I don't mind admitting that I have panic. I'm disappointed i am back on
Meds as I've been well for the last 18 months. I'm wondering whether I should go to work or not. There are a lot of things there that only I can do and I worry my colleague will have too much to do while I'm off.  Lovely painting by the way Davit. Did you paint it?

Hello

Funnily enough my cat is called Tommy!  Losing a pet is very hard. A few years ago I had to have my cat put to sleep, he was only 5. I still miss him. Just as an update, I managed to go to work today, my boss was very kind and let me go an hour early. I feel tired and have a headache but that may not necessarily be the pills. I've been honest and told my boss and closest colleague I'm on pills again. They were very encouraging about it.

Scared

I've survived the day at work but now I am home I feel very nervous and out of it. It is only my 2nd day on citalopram but I just wonder how I going to cope the next few weeks while the meds settle down. I'm scared of meds even though I've taken them before. I have managed to eat my dinner but not looking forward to tonight. I'm worried I won't sleep.

Scared

Very kind of you to say so Davit. About 10 years ago I was getting panic attacks but didn't take any meds until I had a really bad day and dr said I was clinically depressed. I am trying to take meds earlier to avoid hitting that crisis point again. I guess I just need to take each day as it comes.

Citalopram 10mg

Just finished my 3rd day on cit. did a full day at work after an hours walk, went to the gym, met a friend and then went to a talk. Wasn't too bad all day but had the most horrendous panic attack during the talk. Don't know how I managed to get through it. Now I'm home and feel really numb. So scared of the night ahead and don't know whether to stay on cit or not if I'm going to feel like that. Don't think I'm gonna make it to wk tomorrow. Anyone else had bad panic when starting cit. is this a case of get worse before better.

Citalopram 10mg

Not sure i feel encouraged by these responses or not. The last thing I want to feel is suicidal! I managed to get a reasonable nights sleep last night and I have got up, taken another cit and got ready for work. I don't think I am going to make the whole day there today and I particularly dread the evenings and night times. Just trying to get through the days and nights at the mo. just want it to be a month later.

Citalopram 10mg

Thanks Davit. I only managed just over 2 hours at work today. I was so unsettled and agitated that I ended up walking the 8 miles home just to try and work off some of the excess energy. I am so scared. I know I've only been on them 4 days but I forgot how scary cit is.

Citalopram 10mg

Thanks Davit. I will try and go to work tomorrow again but I did have a long talk with my boss this eve. I'm trying to be realistic about it all. I've survived it before but I forgot how horrendous those first few days and weeks are. I just want to be able to see 6 wks ahead and know I'm over the worst. I've got a phone consultation with gp tomorrow. It is the nights and weekends that scare me most when help isn't as readily available. I've been honest with so many people that I'm on meds and trying not to hide but that is all i want to do really. Hope this is in some sort of order, typing on an iPhone so can only see a bit of the screen at a time!
