Feeling negative.

Hi Sunny,
I know it must seem like forever to you..but if you are all better by the end of August..that's great! I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best...its ok to wear sunglasses in the summer!  Makes you look like a movie star! Must be a drag in  buildings though...only 2 more months....
Davit,
So glad to hear from you...hopefully you are getting better...take whatever time you need to improve....I was only ever on morphine once...and  I remember being in terrible pain but strangely happy!....nice tractor....I'm a genuine city gal..so I hope its a tractor! My hubby(farmboy)is always correcting me when we take drives in the country..."that's a harrow, that's a hoer" etc....haha..they all look like tractors to me.
Happy people are back

Davit,
Dr. Rx'd me inderol...new name propanadol...I know its a beta -blocker, and am aware of the side effects.  She only started me at 10 mg's  up to 3 times a day if needed. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it...She  and I  both think its my anxiety that raises my BP...but it can raise it so high that its dangerous...so in comes the inderal. Plus I'm in my late forties , have a family history of hypertension (and undiagnosed anxiety/depression), and could stand to lose a few pounds. I'm so new at taking any medications ..I know..I can dish it...but not take it! So I am open to any thougths/experiences.
What operation do you need to have? I hope all goes well . Let us know.

Where does Social Anxiety come from?

Hi Everyone,
I have no memories of my early childhood....I can only see back from about 12/13 and up..often wondered why I can't remember before that.
Davit..I'm the youngest of 6 kids... I often heard my mother say ...."if the birthcontrol pill had been around in my  day, I'd only have had 2 kids"...so I know exactly what its like to be considered an excess...
But....look at as now! Living...learning...trying...doing the best we can!
I used to be socially anxious..and still am at times..but overall, maybe cause I am not required to speak in front of groups...I'm ok...my anxieties present in different ways, but I can see how  it affects socialization.

Hi CarnationsL...How are you doing? Hopefully great.
Hi Sunny..you're dealing with a lot..I'm hoping for you that you are all better by the end of Aug. That constant feeling of sand in your eyes must be so annoying. I bet you want to rub them like crazy but know you shouldn't. You are handling all this so well...I'd be very anxious. I've heard alot of negatives about beta-blockers...so I'm researching and will decide what I'm going to do.
Hi Davit...You too have alot to deal with...good luck with your teeth removal...will that take care of the infection in your jaw too? Add to that leaving one relationship and starting another...wow! Stress! no wonder you are having lots of What-ifs...It sounds like you are managing them well? Hope so.I hope your new relationship brings you much happiness.
As for my BP...It's the chicken and the egg senario...does my anxiety raise it...or does it raise my anxiety? I just took it 3 times..but I still can't bring myself to take it without  the display being covered. I figure it must be memories of past panic episodes that makes me anxious about it. But one step at a time..I'm taking it regularily.
If I had  just hypertension without anxiety then it would be easier. I'd do all the things I do now...try to exercise, eat right, ..etc...but not obsess about every beat of my heart.  Even this am I could feel my heart pound as soon as I thought about taking it...I've taken it tons of times since last month, and the readings are not that bad.. ( I get hubby to read them weekly, then I look.. some are higher than others, but I tell myself that since I'm still alive its ok) But I hate this irrational fear.

Just signed up today

Hi  Missy,
It is a dilema isnt it. We  know that its going to be the CBT that actually cures us..but getting there is so darn difficult. I have been taking a SSRI for 2 months now..my choice...I felt like I couldnt cope anymore and wanted to try anything.... the first week was awful...but now I'm a lot calmer than before... As youve probably read I've  been prescribed another med and I too resist taking any drugs, so I understand your worry. Esp. if its an addictive type drug.
With you having such reactions to those other meds no wonder you are even more hesitant to trying yet another one.
Its hard too  when anxiety affects your relationships...when your husband tells you to take a valium how does that make you feel? He obviously cares alot about you..and it hurts him to see you in such pain...but do you feel like you're giving in and should be stronger ? Do you feel like your adding pressure on him? Does the mental battle begin in you? Thats how I've felt .
Hope your dr.s app't  goes well today..let us know !

How to encourage members to post

I'd say to them...."The first time I posted here  I was scared too, thinking...this isn't going to help me...but I've found it to be very helpful...maybe you'll get something out of it too...there's no harm in trying it."

Where does Social Anxiety come from?

Davit,
Could be. Strange about you not remembering your BD's...and I see how your mother's labelling of you as shy made you shy. Thank Goodness you're not shy here!
