Anxiety attack at restaurant

Hi.

I wonder if you can remember if you were taking any antibiotics at the time. There is a small bit of information that says bacterial infection could be a cause of panic. It may be hog wash. But I know that on the three days that I take Minocin for my Arthritis I get the exact same reaction except when it is real bad I can find Myself half way out of the chair. Very unpleasant! It may just be the extra load on those days but it is just like clock work. Penicillin does the same thing.

Resurgence of Panic Attacks

Hello Teebs.

I can understand you wanting to be off the drugs. It is a whole different world. Every thing looks and smells and tastes better. It is worth it so this is going to sound odd coming from me. IF and I mean if because it might be hard, go back on what ever SSRI you can use for at least a month and then very slowly come off it. I say if because some of us have become very sick going back on. Life on this side of the pills isn't perfect and I don't think it ever will be, but I like Sunny function pretty well and when we have bad days we have a routine to reduce the Anxiety. When I have good days they are fantastic. The rebound from going cold turkey can make it impossible to do exposure work. We will do every thing in our power to help you. Use this forum. Ask question, vent, or just say Hi!. Believe it or not after a while it is possible to tell the panic to go away and just leave me alone. If you don't know any you will have to learn distraction and relaxation techniques. And it will take a long time but it is worth it. Especially if you do any thing artistic. You will be amazed at the improvement. And music, My God what sound!!  One of the things that people always forget after a long time on meds is that a lot of time has gone by. You are older, Expect thing to take longer and be harder. Slow down and enjoy them. Getting long winded here. Welcome and remember we are here for you.

taking Cold meds with SSRI's

Taking cold medications with SSRIs will make you sleepier and fighting it will make you anxious so it is probably not a good thing to do. If you can't get a hold of the pharmacist, try drugs.com   It will tell you.

Anxiety attack at restaurant

If it is Winter SAD then light therapy will help. If it is just infrequent panic then it won't. Not worth spending 200.00 dollars for some thing that does the same as full spectrum lights. For me the light works. More energy and a better mood. BUT that is all. I can still have panic start to creep in even while using the light.

I can't even talk in front of my co workers!

Hi dneese

Let me add my welcome too.

I was a salesman for a welding supply co. Just so you know, "been there ,done that".  Micheal is right if you think that was the worst day then it wont be. The NEXT one will be. And the next. You have to break the cycle. And that said let me say that we are a bunch of nice people with the same sort of problems and we want to help. Better to think "well I got through that " than to fear it happening again. Better to go prepared than to have it sneak up. The moderators will help you with the program, and it does work. Read the forums and the blogs. Some are funny. It helps to see the humour in this situation while you get better, and you will get better, just not today. Oh and don't think this is unique to you and that there is something wrong with you. One third of the population has some form of anxiety that they have to deal with every day. Some hide it, some handle it, and some run away. Please don't run away. This can be fixed. You may not like how hard you have to work at it but it can I repeat be fixed.

Land of the blind.

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king. How many of you are feeling that you have got as far as you can? is this why it's so quiet here. Have you reached the point where you are functional. Don't stop here! Don't you want to see the world through both eyes. It's beautiful when there both open.  Ah don't mind me, I'm just being nosy. I want to know how everyone is. Truth of the matter is I was some where else where I wanted to kick some ones butt for not trying hard enough. So I thought I'd come here and be annoying instead. No really I am curios to know how every one is. And for those who wonder if I'm a little drunk,(sure sounds like it), I'm not, I'm just unusually happy. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Lab Results

Hi Lisa

Just curious, did anyone give you a reason for the low Iron. Mine was so low I was passing out. It took 5 months of pills twice a day to get it back up and tomorrow I get to see if it is back to normal. I think with it that low that there could be a problem with the amount of oxygen getting to my brain and this could be part of the unclear thinking for the last 5 months. Don't ask my friends cause they will tell you I'm normally this dizzy.

Hi Lisa

You know you will be all right don't you, I don't have to tell you that, but here I am because I just want to remind you that you have done this before so you will be OK. For the next few hours I will be here off and on if you need some one to remind you that you can do this. I always found when this happened it helped to do something busy but mindless till the Benzo kicked in. Your not alone remember. I'm here and I am sure others are too.

Peace.

starting from scratch

ladybird.

A year isn't that long actually. some things are pretty set and do take a long time. I have found that if I just cope that it is a form of mild exposure and slowly the anxieties have been shedding like a chicken moulting. Some have just gone on there own. If you learn some exercises to cope then you wont be so worried every time you have to do something new. Oh yeah, the anxiety will still be there but it wont be able to settle in. Try it, it works. At the end of the day do some reinforcement exercises. Sit quiet and revue the day and tell yourself that it wasn't that bad and tomorrow will be better. Lie if you have to! If you do this often enough you will start to believe it and silently it will be true. Don't be surprised if some of the anxiety just fades away on it's own. Be aware though of the ones that try to sneak in. And the new ones. For those you will still need the relaxation and distraction exercises. Soon you will find yourself doing them unconsciously. This one doesn't make sense but it works, smile a lot and laugh at yourself. It might be a form of distraction, I don't know but it does work.
