Need a Quit Buddy

Hello all. I am glad to find this site. I quit cold turkey on Sunday, 11/15th and I am looking for a quit buddy that is at a similar stage of this journey. Anybody interested? TK P.S. My husband (who does not smoke) has not even noticed after years of b$tching at me? What's up with that? It really bothers me.

Need a Quit Buddy

Thanks for the words of encouragement Gary. It is strange but I do not feel like I am going through hell like you did. MW - How is day 5 going? I strongly recommend that you read Allen Carr's book. I cannot say for sure that is why this seems to be going well (or better than originally expected) but still worth a read. I can tell you that I think about smoking a lot but I do not feel like I am going to give in - I know I do not want to smoke so why would I? My biggest concern is weight gain. I few years ago I lost quite a bit of weight and I do not want to regain it. My husband (who still has not noticed by the way) is onboard with healthy eating so it is not hard to stay on track. Let's get to know each other so we can support each other. I am 45 and live in Michigan. I have a 17 year old son that is home from boarding school for the holiday. He was smoking as well and is smoke-free and said he is proud of me for quitting. Kind of cool. I am an executive recruiter and work from home mostly and spend a ton of time on the phone - this is when I would light up all the time. When I get on the phone I still think about smoking but then pat myself on the back that I can talk on the phone without smoking! All - we would welcome another smoke buddy!

Greetings, I?m a new member getting started

Welcome and congratulations on your quit date! I am not a success story (yet) but I too am looking for some support. I posted a while ago that I was looking for a quit buddy...no luck yet. I am on day 16 and quit cold turkey after reading Allen Carr's book as well as 2 hypnosis sessions. I do believe that Allen Carr is the reason I am doing better than I thought I would. Have you considered rereading it? I read it over the course of a week or so and without even trying realized that I was smoking less and less. I would think about lighting up before I lit up. Once I finished the book, that was it. Yes there have been times that I felt the need and urge but reminded myself that it will not make me feel any better and I do not want to have to fight the addition all over again. I had little to no physical withdrawals- the rest is about retraining my brain and hands. I am 45 years old and started smoking as a teenager as well. Please let me know how I can help - I am looking for someone the talk to throughout this process but I am excited about having a nicotine body! TK

Weight Loss Challenge

I am on day 16 of my cold turkey quit and I do not know what is wrong with my body but I am gaining weight like crazy. I have not eaten as much as the scale is showing and I am very in tune with my body, health, nutrition and fitness. I few years ago I lost a LOT of weight. Is anyone interested in a weight loss challenge? I know it is a challenging time of year to start this but I would rather keep it in check or lose a bit throughout the holidays then get on the scale on 1/1/16 and be up 10 lbs! I suggest we weigh in tomorrow (Wednesday) and then every Wednesday we post whether we lost, gained or stayed the same. No need to post weight as I do not care to share! We can support each other throughout the week with ideas to keep our diets in check while we remain smoke free! Any takers? TK

Greetings, I?m a new member getting started

Day 17 here I come! Keep thinking about the quit and think about it in a positive way vs. dreading it. Our mind plays tricks on us. I tried the vape thing years ago and I did not have any success but I didn't want it like I do now. Have a great day.....think about one day being smoke free! TK

Weight Loss Challenge

Great! I am on Day 22 of cold turkey and feeling great. I am now counting the days of exercise as well and I am on the 5th consecutive day. I used to work out 6-7 days per week but this summer my son was in the hospital and I lost my Dad so I got out of the routine. Great to be back at the gym! I will weigh in on Wednesdays too and will let you know if I lost, stayed the same or gain (hope not!). Let me know if you want to take this offline and send direct messages since most of the people that responded did not think it was a good idea to tackle this as the same time but I have to. I cannot let my weight get out of control ever again.

Hello all! I am on day 25 of my quit and feeling great. I am also on my 8th consecutive day of exercise! I am sticking with my own weight loss challenge and am weighing in on Wednesdays but I forgot to post yesterday. I am down 1 lb this week. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
