Quitting soon...

14 years ago 0 32 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
What a great idea Winner! I am 29 and sooooo wish that I had quit smoking when I was younger. It only gets harder over time. You WILL save money, you WILL gain confidence, you WILL have more time to study and start focusing on your future career, you WILL thank yourself for it. I am not suprised that you mentioned that its a "social thing" and there is a lot of "pressure" one of the main reasons why I started smoking too, but for some reason I thought that smoking wasnt as cool as it used. Well at least I dont think its cool anymore. Congrats on your decision to quit and stick to your quit date and stay strong! God Bless and Good Luck!

Hey Winner,
Listen to Jim- he is not exaggerating. Thousands and thousands really means, well, for me at least 168,000 cigarettes over twenty three years for which I paid something like $25,000. And I am only 41. I am not proud of this.Quit now, put that money in the bank..
And quitting for real after all this time is a REAL pain in the arse.... as everyone on this forum can tell you about.
Good luck, hang in there, post often..
Tim

Winner, welcome to the SSC!  I recommend that you go through "my program" so you are 110% prepared for this quit as preparation is key to success!  Add your quit meter to your postings from "my profile" so you can see your numbers increase.  Read, read, and read some more.  Use the search feature to look up topics important to you.  There is so much knowledge here from other quitters.  Post as often as you need, somebody is always near by!  And finally, set up a reward system to celebrate each passed cravings (small reward), each smoke free day (medium reward), and each smoke free week (larger reward).  Treat yourself like royalty!!!  We're all rooting for your success!

Congratulations Winner!
Welcome to SSC and I just want to tell you how happy I am to read that you want to quit. It is great to live the rest of your life without the nasty nicotine addiction.
You should be proud of yourself.
Have your ice water on hand, and read and post as needed!

Hey Winner!
Good quit name :-)
I can relate to the socialising and that being a reason to smoke...
But thinking about it: you want to gain confidence. Stopping smoking will help you with that, most certainly. And that confidence, the new "status" you will have amongst your smoking friends (yes, even if try to convince you that quitting is unnecesary, they will envy you) will in a way make you the strongest amongst them. You might lead in a new "fashion" of not smoking- every movement needs somebody who steps the path first.

Welcome.

Cat
