NEED to quit!

16 years ago 0 22 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
A little update... I have cut down considerably... I didn't have my first cigarette until after my husband and teenager left the house this morning. It's funny how you think that smoking eases stress... when you don't smoke you feel calmer... strange. Steel Sunflower, I am also 39, and I decided after living with this albatros, for the better part of 2 decades, I'm not going into 40 smoking. I am going the start my next journey healthier and stronger. I too have quit several times, although I realize now, my only real previous quit was my one this last March. I used to quit for a few days, and thought that counted, it didn't, I didnt' have the drive to really do it. This time, I'm doing it. I quit on the 1st of November and am doing okay, haven't killed a single victim, or eaten my weight in food! We're going to be November quitters, so let's do it. I am not letting a smelly, foul, cancer-stick beat me again! I am stronger than that and so are you!!! I also set my quit date a few weeks in advance, this time, and prepared myself, I weaned and paid careful attention to triggers. I feel like I am better prepared this time. Hang in, Stacey My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 150 Amount Saved: $42.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 22 Mins: 27 Seconds: 3

Hi SS and (nonic, beautiful post) Now that you have set your quit date, you are working on getting ready for your FREEDOM day. You can beat this addiction..now you just need to believe that you can. I was glued to this site for the first few weeks. Do some things out of the ordinary during your first week. Go sit in the library or a book store and peruse photography books, take some aromatherapy baths, go for some long walks or ride a bike, rent a bunch of movies and veg out on the couch. It is a physical and emotional journey, (maybe even spititual) as nonic said. We are rooting for you. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 169 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,056 Amount Saved: $845.00 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 7 Mins: 44 Seconds: 17

Steel Sunflower Welcome back, glad that you have decided to have another go at this Wow really like that name, the joining of opposites in a creative way is the stuff of great literature and art...Now it is time for you to join opposites (it is no fun being on that want to quit, want to smoke, want to quit, want to smoke, see saw...Take that ambivalence and meld it into a solid desire to throw off the shackles of addiction...Your a photographer, you know all about dealing with light and shadows. It is time for you to combine doubt and ambition, hope and remorse, decision and indecision into a singular pathway that will at last bring you to a state of freedom...You already know that this addiction is both physical and emotional...The former is rather straight forward, but the latter, now that is the interesting part...And from your post I dare say that the latter is the one on which you must concentrate. Stay well and quit nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 320 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,600 Amount Saved: $3,360.00 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 9 Mins: 27 Seconds: 54

Hi SS! I know where you are. Been there, so many times. I smoked for the best part of 37 years, and it wasn't until I realized that I was an addict, and that that I can never have another puff of a cigarette ever again, that I was able to say OK, there is no going back not ever! Prepare yourself, you have almost a week, pump yourself up for this, tell yourself how great you are going to do and that this is your final quit and how easy it is going to be for yourself. Do that every day and you will be surprised at how much of a difference it makes! And besides that, IT IS ALL TRUE! You can do it! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 249 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,225 Amount Saved: $2,626.95 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 11 Mins: 1 Seconds: 52
