Frustrated!

Hi ex-mg and iwillnotfail! I am an ex-mg too. Two weeks now! You guys are SO SMART to make this choice in your 20's, I wish I had. I always had to worry about when and where I could have a smoke when I went on field trips or sporting events with my kids. I never wanted their friends or teachers or coaches to see me smoke. How stupid I was to let smoking control my life so much. My kids are so proud that I quit, and so I'm I. If I can do it after 25 years, you guys can do it too! Hello Ex-MG: I have been trying to quit for some time now as well. My original quit date was Oct 15, succeeded for almost a week, resumed, and now I am back on track. I, too, am quitting for similar reasons, but I just don't have the kids yet! I was visiting my uncle who has a 2 1/2 and 9 month old. We were out back smoking and the 2 1/2 yo said to her mom that she wanted to smoke like daddy. I was devastated and decided that I did not want to be that role model to those girls or my future kids. Good luck! Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it is the way I feel about myself--just do it already, stop toying with the idea. Realize that if you have gone even just one day without smoking, then you have already proven that you do not need them. This is what I am repeatedly telling myself because it is so true. I went 6 days, the longest ever, and now I'm starting all over again and it sucks and I never want to feel like this again. Stay on this site as much as humanly possible for support and encouragement. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write back...and I changed my name to something more appropriate!! Okay, I've been delaying my quit date for obvious reasons but have decided there is no better time than the 1st of the month. Soooo, Nov. 1st is the day! I have two more days to prepare mentally and am actually excited to give this another try, for good! I mean my 3 and 4 yo girls know way too much already. My 3 yo told my friend this past weekend that her mommy was outside smoking. This isn't what I want to teach my kids. I'll keep you all updated.

I think the lady below me said it best..... I even found that inspiring.... I say just do it..... don't look back, if only to pat yourself on the back... Like she said, in the future you'll look back and wish you had quit a long time ago!! Get rid of the smokes and enjoy the rest of your life. So many of us will tell you that we wish we had quit long long ago. It seems imposible right? That is why you have to take it one day at a time. I never thought it was possible and I bet 1/2 of those around here would say the same thing. Take some deep breaths, work the progam to the left and get on the quit wagon. It's great to be smoke free! Hello M G, They should call me the Marlboro Man, as man as those cigerettes I smoked in 40 years, But I would never want that title now after I quit, Have always figured in my life that marlboro cigs were put on this earth to calm me down to settle me, make me relax through the hetic days of my journey, But was I taken for a ride, bottom line was money to them, They don't care about Your health, Not 0ne-Eye-Otta, You have to look out after # 1, Don't let cigerettes control Your life any longer, Stomp Your Foot, and say to Yourself,''Enough is Enough,'' I've stuck to it 4 1/2 years now, I'll never smoke again, I have made that promise to myself, So get the Eye of the Tiger, and control Your life, You're The only one Who can do it. Smokless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1692 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50,760 Amount Saved: $7,241.76 Life Gained: Days: 395 Hrs: 17 Mins: 49 Seconds: 5
