Wow look at all the Augusto's! Imaquitter you can do this :) I know the cravings suck, believe be but if you tell yourself that you're not even going to think about quitting as being hard it will be easier. I've been sitting here since I finished eatting just killing myself because I've been thinking about it. But finally I got up and got some cold water, which has helped a little :) And I'm focusing on a tv show to take my mind off it. There's so many suggestions to take but here's a few. Have a plan! What are you going to do when you feel a crave coming? U can do absolutely anything except smoke. Breathing deep helps a lot since we're not taking in those deep breaths anymore and that what our body's use to & it helps to relax. Remember a crave is like a wave. Just picture yourself riding that wave. It takes about 15 min's or less. Water, walking, hot baths, sleeping, juice and many other things. Your body will crave sugar. I've heard there's a lot of sugar in cig's? So anyhow try to concentrate more on your plan. Keeping a journal helps too :) And walking your dog is a good thing and so is breathing lol. You're sense of humor will help too :) The last time I had a good quit I remember I lived in here the 1st 3mos.., and I slept a lot. I've been in here all day today. I didn't plan on being in here all day, lol, but I've had to deal with a few different emotions today and sometimes that hard for me. So I stay in here and read and post b/c I'm afraid to be alone or even go out of the house. But that's just me, and it's not like that everyday. But if I know I'm vulnerable I stick close to the site. And most people are vulnerable in the begining of their quit. Just reading this post has probably helped you get through a few min's of your 1st day. And I know it's helped me to type it. Everyone's here to help you, you're not alone :) Just breathe........ahhhhhhhhhh My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 40 Amount Saved: $9.60 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 53 Seconds: 0

Hi! Count me in for the Augusto's group! I'm far far away from you all in the USA, but very near in this trip for our healths! :) I've been drinking lot's of water, doing more exercise and reminding me about the advantage of being a non-smoker! And all of this has helped me a lot in the last days! :) I still wake up with an horrible mouth smell because of the tobaco so I'm really anxious to get to the day when it will simply not happen anymore!.. (please forgive for all the mistakes.... Portuguese is my home language...) Another thig that really helps me is to look at the numbers in the mileage going up and up! I don't want to see them down again and I'm really terrified I won't be able to reach this stage again or that it will take too long to try again (last time I really tried was last summer (stayed 2 monthes without smoking and as soon as work and studies and all the stress re-began I started to smoke again...)... that helps now... B ut then again.. 24 of September that's when all the stress will happen again (work+university) so I'm really afrais this time but then again... I'm confident this will be the last time I'll have to stop smoking!!! :) So, good luck you all!!! And keep writing!!! Manyu kisses from sunny warm Portugal!:):):):):) Cat My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 240 Amount Saved: 36.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 22 Mins: 24 Seconds: 1

Okay - first off - thanks Jessica, Josie, Cherie and everyone else for the words of encouragement. Today is the last day and I must say I am really excited, yet terrified all at the same time. SCARY!! I tried once before and I remember the first few days --- it is like choosing to go to the dentist for 24 hours a day! But I have been reading a lot on the site and KNOW I can do this. I HATE the smell -- always have. I was never a proud smoker - I knew how nasty it was. (Wow - I used past tense without even thinking about it!) Anyway - I have no delusions about tomorrow, but I have my sugar free candy provisions and as long as I don't drive, take the dog out, talk on the phone, ...breathe, eat, sleep... I will be fine! lol. I'll be checking in tomorrow - ALOT! Thanks again all! Traci :)

Way to go AuGusto's! There is a great deal of strength to be gained in sticking with a group, you have someone to talk to, who is at the same stage as you, is going through mostly the same things and the support is awesome in a group. Put those whose ideas you like on your buddy list and go from there! Its a great way to meet friends for life as well! Good for you guys! What a great bunch of quitters! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 165 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,125 Amount Saved: $1,740.75 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 6 Mins: 1 Seconds: 36

I just figured out today that this site had this support here. LOL I'm an Augusto, and hopefully once I figure out how to post and reply in here, I'll be able to keep up with what's going on.
