Hello again! Alittle of my smoking history - smoked alittle over a pk a day, decided to join a smoking cessation class with a friend to help her to quit - I have stayed smoke free she has not. Started out my cutting down each day, also used the nicotine patches for about 5 weeks, then nothing. Now - I chew lots of gum, drink probably way too much coffee - have gained about 15 pounds and will work on losing that - used and will continue to use alot of self talking. I do have a number of family/friends who also support me, but I am usually not a person to ask for help - I will give all the help you need, but for me to ask is a difficult thing- but I am getting better!!! So that's that!! Think positive each day!!! Thanks for the replies! Stopping smoking is a rough thing to do - as cigarettes were my friends/my stress reliever - so now I have had to learn how to calm down, to deal with certain emotions - anxiety is the worst - but I just keep telling myself that cigarettes are not going to help the situation - they actually just covered alot of things up without my realizing it! I also tell myself - just one day at a time - which actually comes from Alcoholics Anoymous(sp?) and most days it works! Stopping smoking is ALOT of self-talk - you have to talk yourself out of wanting the cigarette-reasons why not to have one. I could go on and on - will stop for now!! Thank you all once again! LBZee :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/25/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 280 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,609 Amount Saved: $980 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 1 Mins: 8 Seconds: 4

This is my first posting on here - just thought I would say hello! I am just alittle over 9 months smoke free - pretty amazing to me seeing how I was 'never' going to quit smoking!! But, it gets easier every day and MOST days I don't even think about it. I work with smokers and it doesn't bother me - only in the fact that I notice how much a person smokes now that I have quit! It's kinda interesting and to realize that I was just like them - smoking one right after another sometimes!! Anyway - have a great smoke-free day!!! Welcome, welcome, welcome! I agree with Marie---I would be very curious about how you quit, etc...Did you use an NRT or cold turkey? A lot of family support, or pretty much on your own? Just being nosy because I am so impressed! :)
