Raised in a smoking household ?

16 years ago 0 154 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
My parents quit before I was born but my dad took up smoking cigars when I was young, though only outside. My brother and dad smoke together all the time now.. still only outside. It kind of looks like a trend among people with smoking family! Kiwi, My daughter was always very verbal about her hating the smell of smoke as well. I don't remember ever noticing it when I was a kid. She smokes now and her house stinks. Tresa... I too remember the smoking everywhere. I also remember walking across the open field as a small child to the neighborhood corner store to get Mom's cigarettes for her. I grew up in a smoking household & to this day associate the smell of smoke with home & happiness, there was always the smell of cigarette smoke around..... it is still imprinted in my brain. I hated the smell of cigarette smoke as a child also (made that quite clear at the time) but guess that all changed latter in life. Interesting replies there fellow quitees. keep em coming My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 956 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 33,460 Amount Saved: $6,214.00 Life Gained: Days: 136 Hrs: 14 Mins: 32 Seconds: 12

Both my parents smoked. It was so easy to steal a pack. That was the end of things for me. Unfortunately, at 78 years, they still smoke. Amazing they are still alive - but a terrible life for them. My siblings also took up smoking, but my sister quit. Both of my parents are chain smokers (2-3 packs a day). My dad lived with me when I quit. That was really tough. I'm glad to be raising my sons in a smoke free environment. I wish I had raised my daughter that way as well. She now smokes. My storys a bit different, dad quit before I was born, but I am the only one my mom smoked with while she was pregnant. Turns out, I am the only one out of myself and my two sisters who smokes. I remember loving the smell of it as a young child. I got caught smoking when I was 9, and got the butt whipping of a lifetime! I was caught again at 11, and was grounded to my yard for the whole summer plus a butt whipping. Then I started up when I was 14, mom and dad divorced when I was 15 and I was able to smoke freely then, along with a lot of other things I won't go into here...hehe. I grew up with both parents smoking (4 packs a day). I have three brothers and one sister and all of us except for one started smoking. My one brother and I are the only two who quit. We keep trying to get the others to quit, some day it will happen, we hope! My best wishes to everyone here who is trying to quit. It can be done, keep strong, you can make it! Mr and Mrs Ed(Snr) never smoked and were very anti. I was not allowed to smoke in the house, but would light up as soon as I was out of sight! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 547 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,410 Amount Saved: 4,102.50 Life Gained: Days: 87 Hrs: 21 Mins: 8 Seconds: 45

None of my parents nor my sister smoked. I was the only one with the bad habit. I'll be interested in the percentages too.
