Platinumbutterfly, Your MD is the best authority to advise you on this matter. At this point, it may still be due to your lungs healing but that will largely depend on your smoking history and what kind of damage had been done while you were smoking. Again, check with your MD. I agree with Tresa...after seven months you are well beyond the early quitting days when lots of physical changes were going on. Checking with the doc is the best bet...you might need a multivitamin or check your dietary intake. Just a minor disagreement with straightflop...don't start adding a bunch of salt to your diet until you know what's going on. Too much salt can be very deadly to your heart and circulatory system. But do check your water intake. Quitting smoking wont make you sick, i think probley seeing a Dr. must be something else going on there. i know in the beginning there is alot of stuff that can happen, but i think the Dr. is the answer here, i dont think he will think your illness is from your quit Take care feel better Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1827 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 36,540 Amount Saved: $6,394.50 Life Gained: Days: 257 Hrs: 14 Mins: 39 Seconds: 5

Yep it happened to me. Walking Pneumonia, Asthma and all sorts of running nose, cold/flu like symptoms. A few things I did that helped so much. WATER Increase your water and salt intake. Talk to your doctor about how much but most experts say you should drink half your body weight in ounces every day. I drink a little more and increase your salt intake all to stay hydrated. You can look into how dehydration causes most of these symptoms and after quitting you may need to increase water and salt in foods. #2 stay away from caffeine, This was a major contributor to feeling sick all the time. I know this all sounds strange but look into it. You might be surprised. I know you may have been the sam while smoking but your body just went through a major change so it's going to react different to things now. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,450 Amount Saved: $290.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 7 Mins: 16 Seconds: 3

hasnt happened to me, platinum...I mean, ive had some swollen glands, some early cold symptoms..but I have them a few times a yr anyway. I just did what i always do...vitamin c and echinacea You arent gearing up, by any chance, to convince yourself that your illnesses are due to not smoking are you? I think I'll bump up the thread...Oddest or Weirdest Junkie thoughts for you..I had a similar junkie thought that kept me smoking for many years...anyways..that thread is so so funny -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 140 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,600 Amount Saved: $952.00 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 12 Mins: 45 Seconds: 33

Ive been smoke free for 7 months now and Im very frustrated, now I am getting sick all the time.. From 23-29 I was pretty healthy, I RARELY got sick..Now this is the 6th time (since Ive quit smoking) I've gotten a cold type sickness.. 2 times I had strep throat and the other times its a flu type, kinda achy, throat irritation, runny nose, just run down in general..My Mom said that the same thing happened to her when she quit and it's been almost 5 years..Im going to the Dr.s tomorrow to see what is up and if he can suggest anything.. Has this happened to anyone else?
