Today I celebrate 6 months as a non-smoker. This is big for me. I started smoking when I was 18 and smoked for 35 years. I never quit before. With intervention from my family I found myself surrounded by many who wanted me to quit and began to hear them for the 1st time in years. Yet I had to quit for me. So with sheer determination on 10-10-05 I stopped smoking. My doctor advised that I find some type of support group as first time quitters stand a better chance of staying smoke free with a support grout. Well thank you CCS- you have been that support for me. Yet better than support I QUIT!!! Although it has not been easy I have and will I will continue to beat the odds and stay smoke free. Gaga...Way to go on your quit... I smoked for 25 years and had a similar sitution where everyone around me said YOU HAVE TO QUIT...in the end of course it's up to us... Just a word of caution for whatever reason at about 6 months I almost had a relapse...I thought I had beat the Smoking Demons :eg: but old habits die hard and I guess I had let my guard down a bit. I heard voices telling me "oh it's ok you can have one you have quit this long ...you won't start again...you can be one of those social once in a while smokers"...well if you are like me you know that won't work for people who are addicted to cigs we can't even have a drag of one cigerette ...ever! So again way to go and keep on going and remember to reward yourself. Best Regards, X Smokey the Bear.
