Tomorrow I achieve 30days smoke free! I am amazed that I am here, and I NEVER want to go through these past 30days again! This has been a difficult journey thus far, but nothing compared to what I feared it would be. I chose to use nicotene gum to help me through the cravings and for me that has really helped. Days 1 and 2 were insane...every 10seconds reminding myself that I no longer smoked. I felt like I was an impatient 2 year old, and every minute of those first two days was spent thinking about smoking. Day 3 and 4 were a little more tolerable. I could go about a half hour at times completely forgetting about cigarettes. Day 5 was hard, I cried and cried. I didn't want to smoke, but I was just very sad. Once that first week was behind me I knew I could make it. I learned new ways to cope with cravings and I had learned that no matter how bad a craving was, it would pass and I just needed to distract myself for awhile and stick it out. Week two took a lot of determination to get through, but every day the withdrawl was getting easier to handle. Week three flew by and without working too hard at it, I find myself here at 30 days. More than hard work, I find quitting to be constant work. It is a choice I make every day. I no longer want to be a smoker. I am strong enough to beat this addictive beast. Every day that I put between myself and that last cigarette brings me one day closer to freedom. I don't say this to "toot" my own horn, I say this hoping that someone earlier in their quit or someone who hasn't quit yet can see that this CAN be done. It isn't complete misery and it does continually become easier and more natural to be an ex-smoker. I know that I have many more hard days ahead of me, but I also know that I have everything I need to make it through them smoke free. Thanks for all your help and your inspiration. I look forward to posting in the stats parade again soon! ;) Liz My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 479 Amount Saved: $101.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 2 Mins: 16 Seconds: 15
