I hope the poem works, it helps me out allot. I'm on day 10 of my quit and I don't even want a smoke. I changed my way of thinking, I am a non-smoker. If you tell yourself that you no longer smoke, it works......... Try.... I wonder if you need something to make you feel calmer. maybe you should talk to your doctor. Maybe you have anxiety and could use some meds like lorazapam or something. Have you tried a couple of advil or alieve to see if that helps? Try, Just remember that you are in control here, not nicotine - and YOU don't want a cigarette, the addiction does. Please try to change the way you think about it, how can you refer to the immense journey you have completed as fruitless? You are beating the addiction, you need to stop repeating that you "want" a cigarette to yourself, you surely don't- pull out your list of pros and cons that you made at the start of your quit- if you didn't make one now. Be reassured that there are far more benefits to being a non smoker than you are letting yourself acknowledge. I like myself for the first time in my life because for the first time in my life I am IN CONTROL. Hold your head high, be proud of yourself and tell that addiction where to go. You truly can do ANYTHING you put your mind to- unstead of tiredly asking yourself "can I keep doing this????" TELL yourself "I ALREADY HAVE" You are a wonderful role model and owe it to yourself to be proud! Cheers, 2stub ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 291 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,201 Amount Saved: $1,030.14 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 4 Mins: 53 Seconds: 3

What a great poem. My mother was always positive like that. It might be that next step, it might be an hour later and if you quit you will never know how close you were to success. This morning, for the first time in this quit, I cried. I cried out of exhaustion, out of the endless, endless and so far fruitless struggle. When I smoked, I wanted a cigarette before I was awake enough to open my eyes. I still do. I just don't have one. I want this to be over more than anything. I feel like someone in chronic intense pain. Only then I could take a pain pill, get a shot. I've been trying to control my thinking more. The thought "I really want a cigarette" seems to have much the same effect as actually having one. Changing that to something else like, "I am a healthy non-smoker. I don't smoke" might help but not so far. I think my coper is broken.
