Go, Lainey!!!!!! Gardening seems to work unused muscles...at least for me. I guess you probably don't want to hear much about how we spent the afternoon bodyboarding at the beach, huh? -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,117 Amount Saved: $353.6 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 6 Mins: 49 Seconds: 26

Went shopping yesterday, to find bigger bottoms! But there is a limit to what I will buy. WE are there,I refuse to go one size bigger than what I just bought, so if these don't hold out till it comes off, we may have to go on the water diet or have my jaws wired shut! This week coming up is planting week, the week that the average date of frost passes by, so it safe to plant the petunias by next weekend, so guess what I will be doing all week & weekend. I have a huge perrenial/annual garden and two other smaller areas plus pots. That ought to keep me busy and hopefully trim up this waist. I'll keep up the morning walks & evenings weights too. we'll see what happens.... :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,746 Amount Saved: $727.95 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 10 Mins: 26 Seconds: 8

Call Me Mom Mom, You are tooooo funny. Here is a sad story for all of us weight gainers. My niece quit smoking in Jan. and lost 30 pounds while on the little blue pill. Go figure. No exercise!. Hi gang, I am still working in the gardens...pulling weeds, turning soil, planting. I am always surprised at the different muscles that get a workout from gardening. I've also been doing some walking. When the weather doesn't co-operate, I use the treadmill but I still prefer getting outside & hitting the trails. The view is so much nicer & it's constantly changing. I've got a few tips for the walkers that might help to burn more calories & get the most out of your workout to help tone muscles. 1-Take small steps. If you're walking at a good clip with long strides, each time you put your foot down, you are actually slowing down. With a smaller stride, you won't. 2-If you angle yourself slightly forward, you will be able to walk a little faster & easier, which will help to burn a few more calories. Plus it's more comfortable. 3-Swing your arms. It helps with the upper body workout & it really tones flabby arms. 4-Get that heart rate up. Just slightly raising your heart rate will help with blood circulation. Your heart needs a work out too & this helps to keep it healthy. 5-Don't forget to breath! That quick beating heart will move all that oxygen straight to where it's needed most...your muscles!
