Everything about quitting smoking leads to something positive.
Amen to that blue cloud! And it is true that the next few weeks will be laden with triggers. Ones that you may never have expected. BUT... we all have positive reinforcement working for us. "If I got through __________, then I can get through this." Anyone with even five minutes behind you - if you got through those five you can get through the next five. That is a HUGE thing because even though triggers come in different packages (sometimes disguised as Christmas presents :p), the same two outcomes are possible. You'll be a smoker after the trigger is gone or you'll be a non-smoker. So double up on the coping strategies and be extra good to yourself and your loved ones. BC - you are doing great and these 147 Days have been good to ya! The holidays can be a stressor! Be sure to keep an eye on your alcohol intake. That seems to be the downfall of so many, even those further into their quites. Do things you haven't been able to do during previous holidays because smoking always inteferred. LIKE... go see all the Christmas movies! You won't miss any parts of them. Go to the Christmas play at church. Enjoy the holiday season and remember the reason for the season. Blue Cloud, This is a great post and a great time for all our you members to start to put together a coping plan for how to deal with the stress of the holidays. Start to think of some ways to deal with high stress situations, Christmas parites and seeing family members that smoke (and are not use to you being a non-smoker). We are all looking forward to seeing your husband and friend in here soon too. Brenna, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi Blue, I am scaling down on Christmas this year. One because I have to with our upstairs being finished I can't find half my stuff and the other it just brings on to many triggers for me. I had enough with the triggers from fall and Thanksgiving. Now if I could just get some of my friends to quit I would be happy. I know I am getting there when my brother asked me the other day where he could get a pack of cigarettes and I really couldn't tell him. Now that Thanksgiving is over we can really forge head into Christmas and New Years. Six weeks of Holiday preperation and celebration is enough to push anyone over the edge. It is important to keep all we have learned close at hand. I am proud to say I made it this far without smoking and I feel great about that. I went bowling with my family last week. I haven't done that in quite a while. The establishment has been there for several years and so has the equipment. The first thing I noticed were the built in ash trays in the score table and the chairs. We really were programed that it was okay to smoke. I am just thankful that I have quit and my grand children are growing up knowing better than I did about the dangers of smoking. The Industry wants to sell the product no matter who it kills. Another thing I am very pleased about is the fact that a good friend and My (need to quit so bad) husband are on the Chantix and doing very well. Everything about quitting smoking leads to something positive.
