........sigh.......yep I love the idiot. He hurt his leg and is home for 3 weeks, and I haven't really had a chance to check in with everyone. Yeah, I'm still not smoking, he still is, and now he's my hobbled invalid and can't understand why it's NOT ok for him to smoke in the house for "just 2 more weeks". He needs to go back to work before I kill him, or worse - smoke with him!!!! The cravings have seemed to worsen over the past week, perhaps because I haven't been here, he's been home, and my entire routine has been thrown off...lol I'm ok though, and now going to read posts..lol you miss alot in a week! Jessica, for me and John - we quit together, it lasted about 10 days. It will pass. I wondered for a while though, it was AWFUL. Just remember you love the man. But now, we are more honest with each other when we have an issue or one of us is crabby. it is like having been through this together brought us closer to the truth, each other, etc... I can't imagine how hard it is with him smoking, but I will tell you this look at the example you are setting for him, you are doing it in spite of him. There are other people here who quit with their spouses still smoking and for many of them their spouse ending up quitting - maybe you should start a thread about that, it might help. mean while, keep it up, feeling better is right around the corner :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 111 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,110 Amount Saved: $194.25 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 13 Mins: 21 Seconds: 43

Thanks so much Sue, I need all the help I can get... I'm reading ALOT right now, and waiting for the proverbial shoe....it hasn't dropped yet, but when it does I will be ready!!!!! Day 9. There are no words to describe how I feel other than ticked...lol I am beginning to wonder if I am just an angry person in general and have just hidden it for so long......but I don't think so, after all I like people most of the time. I'm not my husbands biggest fan right now. I know I can't make him quit, and I am fine with that (most of the time), but he doesn't understand just how assaulting his scent is when he enters the house after smoking. It really bothers me now that I can smell it. He gets mad because I can't handle him up close right after he smokes! The smell doesn't make me want to smoke, it makes me cringe because it stinks. I'm not smoking, I really don't want to, but it is hard since he still smokes. I'm not going to, and as a precaution I have thrown the ball bat into the wood chipper...lol Goodnight and see everyone tomorrow - it's been a long day but I wanted to check in and say hello. Jessica, I am glad you are doing ok, I checked on you in one of your other threads. Weekends are rough at first I know. It does get easier - as long as you don't smoke and remember smoking won't help. Sue ps...even if you don't post, which we want to know how you are, keep reading here, it helps, or it helped to focus me on why I was doing this. thinking of you- Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 110 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,100 Amount Saved: $192.50 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 11 Mins: 7 Seconds: 11

jessica you're my new hero. i wish i could be mean like you. just don't kill anyone and i'm pretty sure you will calm down a notch or two soon...i mean , look at our friends here....they are all walking free, at least not behind bars, are not smoking, and only occasionally get spankings from the mods. My guess is that yes, you have used cigs to redirect anger in the past (raising hand here for belonging to that club), and that all those pesky invisible neurotransmitters are going crazy, trying to figure out how to get the feel good started up again without the nicotine jumpstart. Keep doing what you're doing to get through each crave, each hour, each day at a time. I think I mentioned this before, but there is a good letter to give to your family and whoever about what you are going through. If you want, I'll bump it up again. Hope to see you soon. In the meantime, hear you roar!!!!! -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 152 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,080 Amount Saved: $1,033.60 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 4 Mins: 23 Seconds: 38

Hey Jessica76. they just call it 'irritable'. It is worse for some than others but pretty much all of us had it to some extent! I used to get so uptight and bit--y until the tears came. Once I figured out to just let the tears come, it got better. I think we just have to learn how to deal with these emotions thta we have covered up with smoke for so many years. Feel how it feels and then let 'em go! Keep hanging on though, because it does get soooooo much better and soon! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 168 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,200 Amount Saved: $1,772.40 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 14 Mins: 43 Seconds: 46

All right, so see you tomorrow wasn't such a good idea - the past few days have been really insane. I am still ticked, and Tryagain, wow. I can really relate to all you have said! I am downright mean at times, and I know I'm doing it! Maybe part of me is thinking that I don't have to hold all of the resposibility for my actions right now, although we all know that's a load of crap! I can't blame it on not smoking, I'm aware of what I do. Perhaps the filter between my brain and mouth has fallen out?!?!?!? I had better find it soon before someone knocks me off my chair eh? Cherie - whohooooooo! We can do this! I am on day 8 (I think.....) and the past 4 days were really terrible. My husband was quitting with me (hence the edginess) but after his friend Heinekin visited Friday night.....well his quit took a vacation. If that wasn't hard enough, he kept trying to get me to go outside and "c'mon, just have 1 with me honey"....and I thought "OK, is this the guy mom warned me about - ya know, the afterschool special one trying to use his charm on the young ladies - or is it the one the crime dog did assemblies on in school - c'mon kids, one hit won't hurt! Mcgruff says JUST SAY NO!????.......well I couldn't figure it out so I said NO! I don't want your smokes!, and then kicked him in the groin, shouted help! Fire! and ran to the nearest police officer. :eg: Ok, maybe I just went inside after saying no.....lol Anyway, I am still a nonsmoker, a pissed off nonsmoker, but I'm here. Tryagain, This will pass. You're not a happy camper because you're withdrawing and become frustrated with cravings. Time to channel that angry energy. Have you tried journalling or physical activitiy? Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist
