Mercy - what an amazing lady you are. In realizing your own issues/ goals you manage to still set an example to those of us fresh in our quits. WOOHOO!!! mercy, I am so proud of you, taking the bull by the horns like that! (& you just a little bitty goat!). What a positive, inspiring post & also a great reminder that we cannot become complacent, that we have to be vigilant for the time when we might have to make some changes to the plan, or lose the quit. I have been thinking lately that as we learn to face our demons and react to our feelings without our old buddy nicotine, we can become much more self-aware if we allow ourselves to be. We can give ourelves what we truly need instead of what we absolutely do not, when we have the awareness to recognize what it is. We can only be happier, calmer, more tolerant people because of that. That's what I see here, mercy. 178 days ago, you would have thought, "I feel restless & like something is not going the way it should. I better have a smoke & hope it goes away." Instead, you are saying, "I better look at what doesn't feel right, face it and do what I can to make it right." We love you, too, mercy. mercy 177 junky 0 My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,300 Amount Saved: $715.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 13 Mins: 10 Seconds: 23

Mercy, we both know that you can do this. You know what to do to get through each crave. I quit cold turkey so I don't have any advice for the gum thingy. You WILL be fine! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 190 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,850 Amount Saved: $798.00 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 14 Mins: 51 Seconds: 4

Hi everyone!! :) Sunday I will have been smoke free for 6 months. It will be a big day for me. I mean really big! The most I have ever quit for was 3..maybe close to 4 weeks. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I could have reached this goal. well..... let me rephrase that....yes....I dreamed about making it this long.....but often times it seemed near impossible. Without the support from all of you I wouldn't have gotten where I am right now. It is a far better place than I was when I came here. That's the truth! I can see why many experts advise good support groups for quiting smoking as being essential to a quit. We never know what we have said that hits home with a fellow quitter. Well...yesterday Unhooked....(auntie unhooked) said the right words for me. Today is a new day with a stronger renewed commitment to my quit. Besides....i don't want her to spank me!! I spent the early morning in bed revising my quit plan for the second phase. I have been using a half piece of nicorette gum twice a day. I am sure that by doing this it has kept me on the fence as far as craves go. I'm TIRED of having that yearning for nicotine, no matter how small or quiet the crave seems. It is wearing me out. To just think I could lose my quit for hanging on to 1mg of nicotine a day is CRAZINESS!!! I will NOT BE addicted to nicotine anylonger. The gum did it's job....and it did it well. Now I have to do MY JOB and finish the nicorette gum program and move on. I cannot continue to remake the old me into the new me with a little toe still hanging in the addiction's corner. Making me over excites me. I need that goal and want to enter my 6 month quit Sunday feeling really good about me. Sooooooooooooooooooooo :8o: I weighed myself!!! YIKES. In six months I gained about 7 pounds. That is not what I invisioned the new me being.....so that's gotta go. I'm on the way to the grocery store. I will buy some sour candy or gum to replace my silly half piece of nicorette in the morning and evening. Then I will buy Healthy Choice dinners and some organic pre-made dinners. They are about 300 calories each. I will buy some fruit like banannas to make a protein smoothy with in the morning. The only bad thing I will make is "diet" instant chocolate pudding for my sweet tooth. That plan should amount to 1200 calories a day. My walking will now be twice a day....RAIN OR SHINE. And I will wear my watch to make sure it is 20 minutes each time. I will also get my 7 pound bigger body on the floor once a day and do some muscle exercises like crunches. (if you saw my crunch you'd give it a new name.. :p ) Sooooo........no more nicorette gum.......exercise twice a day.......and eat only regulated portions. Please cheer me on!!!! I can do this... I know I can. I love you guys so very much....I really do GIVING UP SMOKING IS MORE THAN NICOTINE IT'S LEARNING WHAT BEING IN CONTROL IS ALL ABOUT Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 177 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,540 Amount Saved: $791.19 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 6 Mins: 19 Seconds: 47
